We took the summer off, y’all! We needed it — July almost took us out. 😅
Now as August makes its way out and we get ready for the fall, there’s one question we keep coming back to:
What are the stories that only WE can tell?
It’s a question we’re carrying throughout our Fall Season and we’re inviting you to consider it with us.
🗓️Sept 3 | Dancing While Black: Story Circles
We kick off the season in partnership with Angela’s Pulse celebrating 10 years of Dancing While Black, by gathering in community to share stories of legacy, movement and Legacies in Action.
🗓️ Sept 26 | A reading of Can You Read the Stars?
Cultural Worker and Playwright Goldie E. Patrick takes over 651 for a day of remembrance and joy, tracing Black Southern culture and her own family history into the making of her newest play, Can You Read the Stars?
🗓️ Oct 3 | Jocelyn Marie Goode
After creating the visual world of last summer’s We Outside! Juneteenth celebration, Jocelyn Marie Goode takes over the gallery/gathering space at 651 with an exhibition of new work.
🗓️ Oct 24–25 | Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival
We’re partnering with Reel Sisters again for two days of screenings, conversations and 25+ films produced, directed and written by women of color.
🗓️ Dec 2–5 | The Incredible Drunkertons
Sizzle and Funk are coming back to 651. If you came last year, you already know. That’s all we’re saying for now. 👀
It’s been a minute, but we’re back.
Come spend the fall with us. Come hear some stories. Come tell some stories. And along the way, ask yourself:
**What’s the story that only YOU can tell?**
We can’t wait to see you at 651.
It’s been a minute, but we’re back - September through December!
