Mavis Moonbun has had quite the week! She looks sweet and innocent but don’t let that fool you. She’s been up to her usual escapades and she almost got caught pinching Farmer Pippin’s prize carrots. She didn’t hear him as she had her hare-pods in and was listening to her favourite band Buns & Roses. She’s also nibbled through his strawberry netting. A girl has to have pudding! Anyhoo, this little bunny didn’t take long as Johanna had kindly added some fur making the shading much easier to do. This was the first page that I was asked to colour by Johanna for her Inklings campaign. It was such an honour and now the book has been returned I wanted this to be the first page I completed. This was the second page Johanna asked me to colour. I promise this is the last time I will mention that as I realise I may be coming across as a little insufferable. Or more so than usual! 😂 Teal is my favourite colour in the Design Journey pencils so I built the palette around that. You may remember Jasper, Tabitha Twigwillow’s beloved cat from a few weeks ago. It’s now the eve of the party at Twigwillow Hall. All of the potions, lotions, botanicals and crystals for the party have arrived by PPD - Potent Potion Deliveries, and supplies for the margaritas are chilling nicely. I do hope you can still attend. To be honest, Jasper prefers a quiet life. He’s not cut out to be a scary cat. His friends include a field mouse, two robins, Tarquin, Sir Bramblewick and Frogatha from the next village. He prefers peace, chin rubs and a warm lap. He loves going for a ride on the broomstick though. That always means treats and toys from Pawsome Pets and Tabitha likes to pop in to The Tipsy Cauldron for a Magical Mocha. He loves spending time with Tabitha, his very best friend. They may stop by The Pudding Pantry for some supper. The Enchanted Pear is a self saucing dessert that witches fly in for from miles away just to sample a wee portion. The Three Chocolate Frog Fondant isn’t too shabby either! Jasper always orders the Cheese & Dreams board. There are just a few supplies left to pick up such as floating candles, enchanted gift bags and happy memory sparklers for the guests. Jasper is very excited to be seeing his friends at the party but he’s also very much looking forward to toasting his paws beside the fire on Sunday. 🖤👻🐾🕸️🐈‍⬛🕸️🐾👻🖤 This is such a sweet page from Hanna and it’s one I’ve wanted to colour for a while. However, there’s fur involved. Lots of fur! Wild Things by @johannabasford 💚 This is the second page from Wild Things that I had the honour of colouring for Johanna. This is such a beautiful page but then the entire book is full of whimsical charm and stunning illustrations. What made the experience even more special was being able to colour it alongside my dear friend Suzanne. We had a few very excitable and animated conversations along the way and her pages are absolutely awesome! Pop over to @suzanne_wb if you haven’t already seen her perfect puffins, spectacular seals and fantastic fish. You will see my very own ‘wild thing’ who insisted on helping me with the photos. Well he pretends he’s wild but he insists on a fleece blanket, a lap and an endless supply of treats. Hardly the king of the jungle, more like the lord of the lap! Wild Things by @johannabasford 💚 To say I was chuffed to bits to be asked by Johanna to colour a couple of pages from Wild Things is a whopping understatement. It’s like your favourite band asking if you fancy playing the tambourine at one of their gigs! There were lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ during the flip-through and Johanna has produced yet another beauty. This was one of the first pages I wanted to colour. Fall Hat by @emilyillustrator ✨ I thought I’d bought this beautiful illustration from Emily last year but it turns out it has been chilling out on a clipboard since October 2024! I’m so sorry Emily but I got there in the end! 😂 So, this was fun! Meet Tarquin Frogusson, Sir Bramblewick Von Potion and Frogatha Hopper. Best friends, mischief-makers and absolute hoppers when it comes to brewing potions. Do you require the Focus Hocus Pocus charm or the Sockus Locatus potion to help find that one missing sock? Tarquin is a whizz at colour-matching with his beloved Prismacolors and is also a master at Gelato alchemy. His index of colours is a sight to behold! Then we have Sir Bramblewick who will do absolutely ANYTHING to avoid a cup of tea. Ironic really, seeing how his favourite pastime is making strong brews in his cauldron. He’s quite partial to a Lavender Latte though and an absolute wizard with a wand full of sparkles! Frogatha likes to whiffle away at her paintings and she has a habit of dusting absolutely everything with little flecks of white enchantments. It can get a little annoying! October will be a very busy month for Tabitha Twigwillow so she’s flying off on her broomstick to buy potions, lotions, botanicals and crystals for a party she is hosting at Twigwillow Hall. How do you like your Midnight Margaritas? Look out for your invitation that should be delivered by Bat Mail. If it doesn’t arrive, just turn up. Occasionally letters have been ‘lost in the cave’! I can’t grumble as bats can be a little precious. Last year Tabitha got lost herself but this time she has Witchway, the Satnav for broomsticks. Coming along for the ride is Jasper who knows exactly where to go because there’s always a bowl of treats outside every shop and stall. Anyhoo, this is a double spread from Hanna’s beautiful Halloween book. This is actually a practice page for another of Hanna’s illustrations that I’m doing for a buddy colour. I had difficulty photographing the whole thing so please do swipe to see a Blair Witch Project style video to see this in its entirety.
