The late nights that turn into stories you'll tell for years. The finish lines that ask everything of you. The moments that leave you exhausted, but feeling more alive than ever. Your data can tell you what those experiences asked of your body. But it can't tell you what they meant to you. 05 Nov 2026 Want to know how to decrease your WHOOP Age? Focus on this to start aging backwards... According to longevity expert Dr. Eric Verdin, when you sleep may be just as important as how long you sleep. His advice? Set an alarm for bedtime, and a haptic alarm for waking up, to prioritize consistent sleep and wake times. This week on the latest WHOOP Podcast, Dr. Verdin joins Will Ahmed to break down the daily habits that impact how we age, how he doubled his HRV after uncovering a hidden sleep issue, and how WHOOP Age can help you take control of your long-term health. Listen now on Apple, Spotify, and YouTube. 04 Nov 2026 Sharing a bedroom with a kid, dog, or cat may change your sleep less than you think.
WHOOP researchers compared people to themselves on nights they shared a bedroom with a dog, cat, or child versus nights they slept without them. Across 11,733 adults and more than 1.6 million days, here’s what the data found. Child co-sleeping was associated with the largest increase in sleep disturbances and the largest decrease in restorative sleep of the three groups. It was also associated with slightly lower resting heart rate and higher HRV. The study is observational, so these patterns do not show that sharing a room caused the changes. Dog co-sleeping was associated with a 1.14 bpm lower resting heart rate, 1.95 ms higher HRV, and 9.58 more minutes of sleep on average. It was also linked to slightly more disrupted sleep, but all of these differences were small. On cat co-sleeping nights, people slept about 7 minutes longer on average, with a 0.94 bpm lower resting heart rate and 1.41 ms higher HRV. The bigger takeaway is not that cats are better or worse for sleep — it’s that the physiological differences were minimal. The study found modest differences in sleep, heart rate, HRV, breathing, and next-day activity, but the effect sizes were consistently very small. There is no universal rule here. Make the choice that fits your life, and use your own data to understand what works for you. 03 Nov 2026 400 episodes. Countless perspectives. Over the last 8 years, the WHOOP Podcast expanded our pursuit of understanding what we’re capable of. A look back at the conversations that left a lasting impression.
