📩 Save this guide before Chiricahua blows up on everyone's Arizona bucket list 🌋 Chiricahua became America's 64th national park on October 20, 2026, making it Arizona's fourth. 🇺🇲 This hidden park are the remains of a cataclysmic volcanic event, slowly transformed into a landscape that looks almost otherworldly. It is one of the largest volcanic eruptions in the region. The eruption was extraordinarily large—even ejecting over 1,000 times as much material as Mount St. Helens did in 1980. The volcanic ash turned to rock and developed vertical cracks as it cooled. Years of erosion created the "Land of Standing-Up Rocks". 📍Chiricahua National Park Willcox, Arizona 📝 Details: 🚗 Bonita Canyon Scenic Drive – travel 6 miles beyond Visitor Center stopping at scenic pullouts like organ pipe rock formations 🥾 Echo Canyon Trail – hike Echo Canyon to Beyond Grotto - 1.2 mile roundtrip (or the 3.3 mile loop) easy to moderate trail with balanced rocks. Look for tunnel-like formation on right. Turn back around at the window & switchbacks if not doing the loop. 🪨 Massai Point – 360⁰ views over "wonderland of rocks", nature trail to balanced rock formations, pinnacles and hoodoos (stay for sunset at the viewpoint).
