It’s #FunFactFriday!
Did you know Tulsa District’s Tribal Construction Support Program supports tribal nations to provide reimbursable technical support and oversight to help them construct important facilities, infrastructure and housing in their communities?
We are proud to support the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma’s community childcare center in McCloud, Ok. The tribe has focused effort on constructing quality child development facilities to ensure their citizens have access to quality childcare throughout their jurisdictional area and this project included completion of the monolithic dome building, bus barn, auditorium and playground/splash pad.

More than 75 years of service, now a piece of history on display.
For #TurbineTuesday we are looking back at these 2021 photos of turbine No. 2, one of the original turbines in the powerhouse at Denison Dam on Lake Texoma.
For more than seven decades, this turbine helped turn the power of moving water into electricity. In 2021 it was replaced by a new turbine and placed on display to give visitors a closer look at the machinery behind our hydropower mission.
You can find it on display on the south side of the river below the dam. Next time you visit, stop by and take a look at this piece of Tulsa District History!

This #MissionMonday, a new driving surface is taking shape at Tenkiller Lake's main spillway bridge. Maintaining infrastructure is a key part of Tulsa District's civil works mission.
Contractor crews recently placed a silica fume concrete overlay across the bridge deck, then covered it with wet burlap and plastic for curing. These coverings help retain moisture so the concrete can develop strength and durability.

November's days are shorter, and darkness comes at an earlier time.
Plan ahead, check the weather, make sure your navigation lights work, wear your life jacket, and let someone know where you’re going and when you plan to return.
A little preparation goes a long way toward getting home safely!

Have a safe, fun, and spooktacular Halloween weekend with your family and friends! 🎃👻
While you enjoy the festivities, remember to play it safe around the water. If you’re in, on, or near open water, always wear a properly fitted life jacket. @PleaseWearIt #LifeJacketsWornNobodyMourns

Building infrastructure for our communities takes coordination before, during and after construction begins.
This week, Tulsa District hosted Southwestern Division's Regional Governance Week, bringing together leaders and technical experts to review projects, discuss challenges and coordinate priorities.
From military construction, engineering and contracting and planning and project delivery, these discussions help teams identify obstacles and share solutions.
Discussions also support the goals of Building Infrastructure, Not Paperwork, improving efficiency and strengthening accountability to keep critical projects moving forward.
Members of the graduating leadership development program as well as inductees into the next class of the program were also recognized during the week.

Work is progressing on the 28,835 square foot child development center on Sheppard Air Force Base.
When completed, the CDC will accommodate 60 faculty/staff and 200 dependent children, 6 weeks through 5 years of age, of active duty service members assigned to Sheppard AFB with full-day, part-day and hourly childcare.

Trunks, treats and community spirit at Kaw Lake!
Kaw Lake's second annual Trunk or Treat brought the community to Coon Creek Recreation Area on Sunday, Oct. 25. Nearly 30 trunks helped make the event a treat.
Thank you to the local partners, businesses, contractors and friends who sponsored the event and hosted trunks, and to everyone who joined in on the fun! We love having communities come together in our recreations areas.
