I had the honour of coloring Snooky’s hair this week- one of the founders of @manicpanicnyc with the new InterGELactic shades by Manic Panic in New York City. We used Lover Power Purple , and Celestine Blue mixed with Atomic Turquoise. Yes all of the color’s in the Manic Panic ranges are intermixable , both the classic and the new gels! It’s always a pleasure to colour both Tish & Snookys hair …. The original icons that started Manic Panic back in 1977 almost 50 years ago now. They’re sisters, they’re the best of friends and they’re absolute angels in this world. When the sisters founded Manic Panic in 1977, they gave their customers the opportunity to say “f— you” to the mainstream along with them. Over the years, they’ve become known for their bright colors and iconic names (Vampire Red, Green Envy, Fuschia Shock) and fans have even had their signature jar tattooed on them. This shop was the first punk boutique. It offered their vibrant hair colors alongside accessories, clothing, cosmetics, and, in the early days, records. Tish and Snooky share how they started as teens with only $250 each. Their father had abandoned them at a young age — to reenter their lives decades later and even work for Manic Panic — though their art teacher mother was deeply intuitive and supportive. They also explore how their creative visions have intertwined with their spiritual journeys, which have been part of it all from the beginning. Tish and Snooky were part of the Andy Warhol @andywarholgallery scene, and they began their music careers as part of the iconic band Blondie @blondieofficial. They discuss the magic of the early punk scene in New York City and how everyone knew each other. Over the decades, despite the many challenges of being independent, female business owners in the 1970s and today, they have continued to flourish and practice manifesting their lives and futures.
