The news of the incident in Kraków has been hard to take in.
I have Polish roots and Kraków has always meant a lot to me. Its Old Town is one of my favourite places in Europe. The history, the sheer size of it and how much of its historic architecture survived the Second World War have always fascinated me. I’ve returned with my camera over the years and these are some photographs from those visits.
My thoughts are with everyone who lost someone, those who were injured, their families and the people of Kraków.

Most of my time in Bangkok has been spent photographing street life, but the royal barges deserved a set of their own.
The procession is a centuries-old Thai tradition, reserved for important royal occasions. This year it accompanies the Royal Kathin ceremony, when robes are offered to Buddhist monks at Wat Arun.

This is what one week in Bangkok did to my camera roll 😅 I came back for a full month after last year’s visit and so far I’ve found it pretty difficult to put the camera down.
What’s stood out most this time is how much I’ve been drawn to the people, especially in the small markets. Those little gestures and facial expressions keep catching my attention, sometimes more than the light or location I’d usually be looking for.
These are some of my favourites from the first week. Curious which one you’d pick!

I liked Mardin much more this time. It’s become a lot busier since my first visit and I think that’s part of what made it click for me. I knew the historic side of the city, but I’d underestimated its energy. It turned out to be a really good fit for the kind of photography I enjoy most.

Berlin’s parks get plenty of attention in autumn. I’d make time for the backyards and side streets too.
For anyone planning a walk, here’s where to find the spots in this set:
1 & 17 · Puschkinallee, Treptow
2 · U3 tracks near Dahlem-Dorf station, Dahlem
4 · One of Oranienstraße’s beautiful backyards, Kreuzberg
5 · The famous autumn house on Friedrichsgracht, Mitte
6 · A puddle next to Rotes Rathaus, Mitte
7 & 8 · Siegessäule, Mitte
10 · Jüdischer Friedhof Weißensee
11–15 · Tiergarten, Mitte
16 · Humboldt Forum, Mitte

Berlin’s nightlife gets all the attention, but these early mornings are what I miss when I’m away.

During the pandemic, I got pretty obsessed with Berlin’s prewar architecture. I read hundreds of books and spent hours studying old maps. Then I wanted to go and see the buildings for myself.
So I started looking for Gründerzeit apartment buildings with my camera, photographing their entrance halls, staircases and painted ceilings.
These are some of my favourite finds.

Probably a difficult case to make to anyone waiting for summer. But this is my favourite Berlin.

First photos from my recent Türkiye trip, starting in Diyarbakır.
I knew very little about the city before arriving. Going through the photos now, I realise how much of this set is about the people I came across. There was so much life in the streets, and it felt unlike anywhere I’d been before.
I’m glad this project took me there.

I love a golden autumn morning in Berlin but I’m just as happy heading out with the camera when there’s fog. The mornings around Oberbaumbrücke felt completely different from that ridiculous sunrise in Tiergarten and that contrast is exactly why I wanted these photos together. Both are autumn in Berlin to me.

Up in the station, then down at the crossing. A little Eberswalder Straße in the autumn sun.

I wouldn’t have minded a few more days in Berlin.
Most of this visit was spent in Prenzlauer Berg, with one walk through Friedenau. I know visiting is different from living here, so I’m not making any big plans off the back of one good trip. But I enjoyed it more than I’ve enjoyed being here in a long time.
Off to Bangkok next.
