Gioia 8C+ ✅️ This one means a lot to me, I tried it for the first time in 2012 when I sent the stand start, and focused on the full line a bit more between 2015 and 2016. For 10 years I haven't been back in Varazze and then this season I felt I was ready for it. The name of the boulder means Joy, and it couldn't fit better for the feeling I had once I climbed it. It is the hardest boulder I've ever climbed and it is incredible how @corechristian was ahead of its time when he did the FA back in 2008, it is considered one of the first 8C+ in the world (maybe the very first?) • Huge thanks for all the support and all the climbers who shared moments with me on the boulder (specially @jekraimondi ) and @sara_grip for the beautiful pics and the video of the ascent (coming soon). 8,263 likes · 79 comments · 13 Feb 2026

Excalibur ✅️ Hard to imagine a more perfect line than this, I have to admit the process has been extremely difficult, from the first time on it figuring out the beta and thinking it was impossible, to the send go when I felt solid and confident. But the best thing about this project has been the people around it, sharing moments together and trying it with some of the best climbers in the world, but more importantly with my friends. I'm also confident to propose 9b+ as grade, this time I have no doubt about it, and for sure it is the hardest of all my first ascents, and probably the hardest route in Italy now! Here's an update on what happened and why I haven't posted anything for the past month. We were in Flatanger when my wife Sara noticed something unusual in her throat. The doctors told her to fly home and get it checked immediately, so we flew back to Italy for a biopsy. The results took longer than expected, so we decided to return to Norway and wait there, so we could bring the van back to Italy if necessary. We were still hoping it was nothing serious and that we could stay longer and keep climbing. Unfortunately, the medical report confirmed that it was lymphoma, so we immediately drove back home with our van. After just a few more days of medical tests, Sara had her first chemotherapy session last week and began her journey to recovery. It's going to be a difficult journey, both physically and mentally, and it's already been tough so far. We were scared at first, but we're now confident that she'll get through this. Sara is strong and resilient. She's already been through a lot in the past, and I know she'll get through this too. We're incredibly grateful to our friends, family, and doctors for taking care of Sara and supporting us through all of this. • As for Silence, we'll be back stronger next year. Silence crux 2. After the first crux I can rest in the kneebar around 4 minutes and start the second crux of the route. It could be considered approximately 8A+ boulder and I feel I want to be a bit more consistent on this one, I really wouldn't like to fall here after passing the first crux but it definitely can happen. • @insta360italia sent me an Insta360 X4 Air and this is the result, a close video without needing a filmmaker hanging on the route. Huge progress on Silence. Finally I was able to repeat the first crux and I tried to continue, sticking the hardest move of the second crux as well after being able to rest 4 minutes on the kneebar between the 2 cruxes. I let go the hold because it was wet, I could have continued if it was dry, but it is already a great breakthrough. Next goal will be to starting from the rope change rest (few meters below crux 1) and connect it to the top of the route. Back on Silence. Stefano the boulderer feels strong on it, I'm doing well on the crux again (I didn't have to start from zero at least!). I could do the foot jam sequence from the first day and I hope I can repeat the whole crux soon. The hardest boulder I've ever climbed is Silence crux, I think (and @will_bosi agrees) that is a solid 8C+, and being able to climbing it after an 8b+ route and adding another 8a+ crux after it is what makes Silence so hard. I could climb this crux 3 times in total back in 2023 and 2024 but I need to be more consistent on it and try a bit longer links before starting attempts from the ground. I'm finally back on it these days and I feel my bouldering shape is helping a lot.
