For the upcoming @westbundartfair in Shanghai, @carteblanchewinland will present a selection of works from my solo exhibition BREAK · CONSTRUCT, held in Hangzhou, China, in December 2025. Marking my first major presentation in Asia, the exhibition celebrated the 75th anniversary of Sino-Swiss diplomatic relations and was curated by @florianpaulkoenig. The selected works reflect different stages of my artistic practice, from my signature hammer-struck glass portraits to sculptural explorations inspired by Chinese mythology. Through glass as a medium, I explore the dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic expression, connecting my own approach to the material with China’s rich cultural heritage. I look forward to presenting this selection in Shanghai with Carte Blanche! 📍West Bund Art Fair, Shanghai 🗓️Nov 10-15, 2026 with @carteblanchewinland #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 04 Nov 2026 Proud to showcase this stunning installation inside a private chalet in Central Valais, Switzerland. Featuring the iconic triumvirate of the Swiss Alps - the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau - these three legendary peaks hold a deeply special place in Swiss hearts, representing timeless strength and breathtaking beauty. Created through an intricate and unique technique, these mountain landscapes are hammered directly into glass, capturing the raw texture of rock and ice within a luminous, modern medium, thereby adding a unexpected element to the home’s architecture. 📍 Central Valais, Switzerland In collaboration with @noa.contemporary & @laurentmarthalercontemporary Images by Martignoni J.-M. & Eiro N. – Technica Architecture #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 02 Nov 2026 Different worlds. Different materials. One shared vision. «Beyond The Surface» brought @addfuel and myself together in an artistic dialogue between two seemingly contrasting practices. His intricate patterns and geometric compositions meet my fractured glass portraits, creating a visual language where order and chaos, construction and destruction, pattern and image coexist. Inspired by Montreux and its Belle Époque heritage, this exhibition became an opportunity to explore new perspectives, challenge our own approaches and push our materials in unexpected directions. The highlight of this exchange is a series of collaborative works in which neither artistic language stands alone, but both evolve through their encounter. An inspiring collaboration, new discoveries and the exciting feeling of creating something neither of us could have made alone. Thank you, Diogo, for the exchange, and @laurentmarthalercontemporary for bringing us together. 📍 @laurentmarthalercontemporary, Montreux Images by @marieloudumauthioz #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #AddFuel #BeyondTheSurface 30 Oct 2026 Marseille carries a rich artistic history, shaped in part by the legacy of Adolphe Monticelli, whose expressive use of light, colour and texture invites us to look beyond representation itself - towards the atmosphere, emotion and inner life that emerge through the material. This same tension between what is seen and what remains hidden lies at the heart of my practice. Working with fractured glass, I explore the human face as a surface in constant transformation. Each fracture becomes a line of tension, each reflection a shifting fragment of identity. Light passes through the material, revealing and concealing in equal measure, while the interplay of transparency, shadow and depth creates a portrait that is never entirely fixed. Presenting these works at Pavillon Monticelli gave this exploration a particular resonance. Within a setting so deeply connected to artistic expression, the pieces entered into a conversation with their surroundings, inviting a closer look at the relationship between material and meaning, appearance and presence, the visible and the invisible. My sincere gratitude to the entire team at @pavillonmonticelli for their trust, care and dedication in bringing this exhibition to life. Thank you to @agence_ds for the invitation, and to @outrelieux for the collaboration. And, of course, to everyone who visited, engaged with the works and shared in the opening night - your presence made this moment all the more meaningful. 📍 The Luminous Face | @pavillonmonticelli, Marseille, France Presented on invitation from @agence_ds, in collaboration with @outrelieux. #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 27 Oct 2026 While the final strike bringing a portrait on glass to life feels like the defining moment, the soul of the work is quietly forged long before my hammer ever touches the surface. It lives in the patience of planning and sketching, the raw tension of the first crack in the glass, the heat and permanence of welding the frame, and even the deliberate rhythm of sharpening the tool itself. None of these moments are secondary - they are the invisible groundwork holding the entire piece together. Each step demands the same reverence, intent, and focus as the last, because true craftsmanship isn’t defined by the final reveal, but by honoring every silent layer of the process along the way. #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 24 Oct 2026 I named this cube «Blue Ocean» - in honor of the Mediterranean. The colour of «Blue Ocean» draws inspiration from the deep blue sea off the coast of Marseille - a blue that holds both extraordinary luminosity and profound depth. I am fascinated by the duality of this colour: how it can appear light and almost transparent, reflecting the sun, yet also become dark, dense and seemingly infinite. Within this contrast, light and shadow meet, revealing new nuances and layers with every change of perspective. Presented as part of «The Luminous Face» at Pavillon Monticelli, this cube carries a particular connection to its surroundings. It draws from the sea that defines this place, translating its colour and atmosphere into a study of light, perception and depth. I wanted to capture a feeling - the quiet power of the sea, its shifting light, and the mystery of what lies beneath the surface. 📍 The Luminous Face | @pavillonmonticelli, Marseille, France Presented on invitation from @agence_ds, in with @outrelieux. Images by @florianpaulkoenig & @suz_gt #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #BlueOcean 21 Oct 2026 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the opening of «The Luminous Face» in Marseille so special. It is a true pleasure to share my work at Pavillon Monticelli, in a city so closely connected to the artistic legacy of Adolphe Monticelli. His exploration of light, colour and texture continues to inspire reflections on how we perceive a face and what lies beneath its surface. Through fractured glass, I seek to capture something beyond the visible - a presence revealed through light, shadow and the delicate interplay between fragility and strength. Seeing these works presented in this unique setting made the experience all the more meaningful. My sincere thanks to the entire team for their trust, dedication and support in bringing this exhibition to life, and to everyone who came by, shared this moment, and made the opening night unforgettable. 📍 The Luminous Face | @pavillonmonticelli, Marseille, France Presented on invitation from @agence_ds, in collaboration with @outrelieux. #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt #TheLuminousFace #Marseille 18 Oct 2026 Currently in Marseille, setting up for «The Luminous Face». It feels particularly special to be here, in the birthplace of Adolphe Monticelli, whose exploration of light, colour and texture resonates so deeply with my own work. Looking at the history of painting, from Rembrandt to Monticelli and Van Gogh, I’m fascinated by the way artists have always searched for something beyond the physical appearance of a face - an inner light, a presence that seems to emerge from within. My approach is different, but perhaps the underlying idea is the same. I use a hammer to create portraits in glass, where every crack becomes a brushstroke and light emerges from the darkness. Rather than adding colour to a surface, I fracture the glass to reveal the image through light itself. Monticelli captured light through the material of paint; I explore it through the fragility and strength of glass. Different materials and techniques, yet a shared fascination with how a face can come alive through light and perception. Being at @pavillonmonticelli in Marseille makes this connection between past and present especially meaningful. As I prepare the exhibition, I’m reminded that art continues to evolve, but the fundamental questions we ask through it remain the same. 📍 «The Luminous Face» on invitation from @agence_ds in collaboration with @outrelieux at @pavillonmonticelli in Marseille, France | 15–17 October #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 15 Oct 2026 Working alongside another artist always makes you look at your own work differently. Diogo (@addfuel) and I come from two very different artistic worlds. His work is rooted in intricate tile patterns, colour, geometry and composition, while mine revolves around glass, portraits, movement and the tension created through impact and fracture. At first, our approaches couldn’t seem more different. But the more time we spent working together, the more similarities we discovered. We both transform our materials by breaking them apart, rearranging them and giving them a new meaning. What starts as something familiar becomes something unexpected. For «Beyond The Surface», our worlds come together in a series of new collaborative works, inspired by Montreux and its Belle Époque heritage. Two different crafts, two different approaches - but a shared fascination with transformation. 📍 @laurentmarthalercontemporary, Montreux 🗓️ Beyond The Surface - Add Fuel × Simon Berger Opening October 8th #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 07 Oct 2026 Busy but very inspiring days in the studio working alongside @addfuel for our upcoming duo exhibition in Montreux with @laurentmarthalercontemporary. When two completely different visual languages meet, something incredible happens. For «Beyond The Surface», Diogo and I are creating pieces built around a shared obsession: surface, fragmentation, and transformation. Drawing inspiration from Montreux and its iconic Belle Époque heritage, we’ve both reinterpreted the era through our own mediums - intricate, woven tile patterns on his side, and fractured glass on mine. Beyond our individual pieces, we’ve created a series of new collaborative works where our worlds directly collide: pattern meets portrait, order meets rupture, and construction meets destruction. We can’t wait to share this with you. «Beyond The Surface» invites you to look past what first appears and discover the layers, histories, and images hidden beneath. 📍 @laurentmarthalercontemporary, Montreux 🗓️ «Beyond The Surface», Add Fuel x Simon Berger, opening October 8th #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 05 Oct 2026 Large-scale portraiture never ceases to fascinate me - not merely for its sheer magnitude, but for its power to fundamentally alter our perception of architectural volume and purpose. When a human face is superimposed onto a structural glass façade, the material loses its primary function as a passive divider between interior and exterior; it becomes a dynamic medium for human resonance. For L’ESPOIR (Grenoble, 2021), the young boy’s upward gaze disrupts the rigid geometry of the building, turning an institutional footprint into a monumental statement on social equity and universal access to education. For me, the true magic of site-specific intervention lies precisely in this intersection - where scale, spatial design, and material permanence converge to give a urgent human message a permanent, unmissable voice. In collaboration with Jerome Catz and @streetartfestgrenoblealpes #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 02 Oct 2026 There’s an electric, quiet intensity in the studio right now that I live for. Time slows down to nothing but the deliberate strikes of my hammer and the sharp, beautiful line of each fresh fracture taking shape. Pushing this craft further with every single strike is what fuels me - testing how much life and emotion I can carve out of simple glass. I’m stepping into a very busy few weeks, and I couldn’t be more excited for what’s coming next: 🗓️«Beyond The Surface» with @addfuel at @laurentmarthalercontemporary in Montreux, Switzerland opening on October 8 🗓️«The Luminous Face» with @agence_ds in collaboration with @outrelieux at @pavillonmonticelli in Marseille, France opening on October 15 #SimonBerger #SimonBergerArt #GlassArt 29 Sep 2026
