Sometimes the biggest impact you can make doesn’t come with a big office or fancy title. Before @phillygsteaksatl had a name or social media page, I was able to coach owner Gordon Brown on the nuances of building a brand- especially in the digital space. My job is not to gatekeep the skills, but to educate people to be able to do it themselves and understand what should happen if they decide to build/hire a team for the task. This was his introduction to social media, so I made sure G was informed on my process- and look at him now! Understandably so, G felt more comfortable with me creating most of the posts for him until he saw the magic.. and this was the moment. @marcosummers was one of the few comedians/creators who decided to cook up content at the newly established location at the @chattahoocheefoodworks @theworksatl (we can touch on that story later). I pulled up on G outside the @thecurbmarket (the first location) and quickly put together a follow-up post. What you see in this video is his notifications going crazy within minutes. I was ecstatic and G was obviously surprised, so we recorded this magical moment, “his work” 😅. It’s been up ever since. I’m excited and proud to announce my appointment to the Fulton County Arts Council! There are so many creatives in Atlanta/Fulton, and with our youth steadily following in our footsteps, it’s important that we continue to build access to opportunities to grow our communities. While my term is fairly short considering the timing, my goal is to show and prove in hopes to return for a following term. A special thanks to @theDanaBarrett, Alanna Savage, and their team for taking the time to understand my vision, @therealdavidmanuel and the rest of the council.
