كيف يسهم القطاع غير الربحي في دعم صناعة السينما وتطويرها؟
شارك الرئيس التنفيذي لمؤسسة البحر الأحمر السينمائي، فيصل بالطيور، في جلسة حوارية بعنوان «دور القطاع غير الربحي في دعم وتطوير صناعة الأفلام» ضمن منتدى الأفلام السعودي، إلى جانب مؤسس ومدير مهرجان أفلام السعودية أحمد الملا، ومدير عام الإدارة العامة لمنظمات القطاع غير الربحي بوزارة الثقافة سلطان الفقير، وأدار الجلسة الناقد السينمائي الدكتور علي زعلة.
تناولت الجلسة دور المؤسسات غير الربحية في دعم صنّاع الأفلام، وتوسيع فرص توزيع الأعمال السينمائية ووصولها إلى الجمهور، وأهمية التعاون بين مختلف الجهات لبناء صناعة سينمائية مستدامة.

What role do non-profit organizations play in supporting and developing the film industry?
Our CEO, Faisal Baltyuor, joined a panel discussion titled “The Role of the Non-Profit Sector in Supporting and Developing the Film Industry” at the Saudi Film Confex, alongside Ahmed Al-Mulla, Founder and Director of the Saudi Film Festival, and Sultan Al-Faqir, Deputy Minister Advisor of Innovation, Development, Operations and Cultural Non-Profit at the Ministry of Culture. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Ali Zaala.
The panel explored how non-profit organizations can support filmmakers, expand opportunities for film distribution, connect films with audiences, and collaborate with industry stakeholders to build a more sustainable film ecosystem.

يواصل صندوق البحر الأحمر دعم السينما الأفريقية وصنّاعها، من خلال تقديم جائزتين لمشروعين سينمائيين من كينيا ونيجيريا، ضمن فعاليات سوق ديربان السينمائي ٢٠٢٦.
🏆 «ورثة بلا ندم» من كينيا، للمخرج سايتاباو كاياري والمنتج مومو ليكو.
🏆 «الفتى الذي تحدّث بلغة التشويش» من نيجيريا، من إبداع مجموعة أغباجوو السينمائية.
ومن خلال هاتين الجائزتين، يساهم صندوق البحر الأحمر في تمكين صنّاع الأفلام من تطوير مشاريعهم وتحويل رؤاهم الإبداعية إلى أعمال سينمائية، ودعم تنوّع القصص والأصوات القادمة من مختلف أنحاء المنطقة.

The Red Sea Fund continues to champion African cinema, supporting two projects from Kenya and Nigeria through awards presented at the 2026 Durban FilmMart.
🏆 Heirs of No Regret (Kenya), directed by Saitabao Kaiyare and produced by Mumo Liku.
🏆 The Boy Who Spoke Static (Nigeria), by the Agbajowo Collective.
Through these awards, the Red Sea Fund seeks to empower filmmakers to advance their projects and bring their creative visions to the screen, while supporting the diverse stories and perspectives emerging from across the region.
This support is part of the Fund’s wider efforts to nurture filmmaking talent, foster original storytelling and create opportunities for filmmakers to share their stories with audiences around the world.
Congratulations to both teams! We look forward to following their journeys and seeing these projects come to life.

من سيؤول، حيث تلتقي الرؤى السينمائية وتتسع آفاق الإبداع. 🇰🇷
محطة جمعت صنّاع أفلام من السعودية والعالم العربي وآسيا وأفريقيا، في تجربة امتدت من تطوير المشاريع وصقل الرؤى الإبداعية، إلى تبادل الخبرات وبناء روابط مهنية وإنسانية تتجاوز الحدود.
بين ورش العمل والجلسات الإرشادية واللقاءات مع نخبة من الأسماء البارزة في السينما الكورية، أتاحت الدورة السابعة من برنامج الأفلام الطويلة في معامل البحر الأحمر، بالشراكة مع «فيلم إندبندنت»، للمشاركين فرصة لاكتشاف أساليب جديدة في السرد السينمائي، والاستفادة من تجارب متنوعة، وإثراء مشاريعهم برؤى وأفكار جديدة.
ومن سيؤول، امتدت الرحلة إلى لوس أنجلوس، لتواصل هذه المشاريع تطورها، ويواصل صنّاعها استكشاف إمكاناتهم الإبداعية.

Bringing together filmmakers from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, Asia and Africa, the Seoul chapter of the seventh Red Sea Labs Feature Film Program was an opportunity to develop stories, exchange perspectives and forge creative connections across cultures.
Delivered in partnership with Film Independent, the program offered a dynamic combination of workshops, mentorship and conversations with leading figures in Korean cinema, giving participants the opportunity to refine their projects, explore new approaches to storytelling and gain valuable insight into one of the world’s most influential film industries.

رقم قياسي جديد لمؤسسة البحر الأحمر السينمائي، مع دخول ١٢ فيلمًا مدعومًا من المؤسسة سباق جائزة أفضل فيلم دولي في الدورة الـ٩٩ من جوائز الأوسكار. 🎬
تمثل هذه الأفلام ١٢ دولة من العالم العربي وأفريقيا وآسيا، حيث اختير ١١ فيلمًا منها لتمثيل بلدانها رسميًا، من بينها الفيلم السعودي «مسألة حياة أو موت».
وينضم إليها فيلم «أنغ» من الهند، الذي تأهل للمنافسة بعد فوزه بجائزة «بلاتفورم» في مهرجان تورنتو السينمائي الدولي.

A record 12 Red Sea-supported films are in the running for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards. 🎬
Representing 12 countries across Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, Africa and Asia, 11 of these films have been selected as their countries’ official submissions, including Saudi Arabia’s ‘A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH’.
They are joined by India’s ‘ANGH’, which earned its place in the race following its Platform Award win at the Toronto International Film Festival.
An exciting milestone for the Red Sea Film Foundation and the filmmakers whose work we are proud to support.

Set in Jeddah and blending romance with dark comedy, the film offers a bold and distinctly Saudi take on life, death, love and fate, told through a story that is as unconventional as it is deeply human.

بدعم من #صندوق_البحر_الأحمر و#سوق_البحر_الأحمر، يواصل الفيلم رحلته الدولية بعد عرضه في مهرجان كان السينمائي، حيث حصد جائزة الكاميرا الذهبية وجائزة الاتحاد الدولي للنقاد السينمائيين. ويغوص الفيلم في إرث الإبادة الجماعية ضد التوتسي في رواندا من خلال حكاية عن المصالحة والذاكرة ومواجهة جراح الماضي.

Director Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo reflects on “BEN’IMANA,” which celebrated its North American premiere in the Centrepiece programme at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.
Supported by the #RedSeaFund and #RedSeaSouk, the film continues its international journey following its Cannes premiere, where it won the Caméra d’Or and the FIPRESCI Prize. Set in the aftermath of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, the film explores reconciliation, memory and the enduring wounds of the past.

تسجّل مؤسسة البحر الأحمر السينمائي أكبر حضور لها حتى الآن في مهرجان بوسان السينمائي الدولي، بمشاركة قياسية تضم ١٠ أفلام مدعومة ضمن برنامج هذا العام.
ويمتد حضور المؤسسة إلى سوق المحتوى والأفلام الآسيوي، حيث يقدّم صندوق البحر الأحمر جائزة لأحد المشاريع المختارة، مواصلاً دوره في دعم صنّاع الأفلام، وتمكين المشاريع الواعدة، وفتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون السينمائي الدولي.
كما تشارك مي الشيباني، مديرة مبادرات صندوق البحر الأحمر، في جلسة «حديث صناديق الأفلام» إلى جانب نخبة من ممثلي صناديق السينما في آسيا، لمناقشة دور التمويل في دعم صنّاع الأفلام وتحويل المشاريع الواعدة إلى واقع.

From the Red Sea to Busan. 🇸🇦🇰🇷
The Red Sea Film Foundation marks its biggest presence at the Busan International Film Festival to date, with a record 10 supported films featured across this year’s programme.
Beyond the screen, the Foundation is also taking part in the Asian Contents & Film Market, where the Red Sea Fund will present an award to a selected project, continuing its commitment to supporting filmmakers and creating new opportunities for international collaboration.
Red Sea Fund Initiatives Manager Mai Alshaibani will also join the Film Fund Talk alongside leading film funds from across Asia to discuss the role of funding in supporting cinema and bringing promising projects to life.

تتحدث المخرجة كاميلا أنديني والنجمتان بوتري مارينو وهانا مالاسان عن فيلم «الفصول الأربعة في جاوة»، الذي احتفل بعرضه العالمي الأول ضمن برنامج «سنتر بيس» في الدورة الـ51 من مهرجان تورونتو السينمائي الدولي.
بدعم من #صندوق_البحر_الأحمر، تتبع أحداث الفيلم بيرتيوي في عودتها إلى قريتها عند سفح جبل برومو بعد عشرين عامًا من الغياب، في رحلة تستحضر الماضي وتستكشف الصمود والذاكرة ومراحل حياة المرأة، ضمن عالم سينمائي يمزج بين الواقعية والغموض.
Director Kamila Andini and stars Putri Marino and Hana Malasan reflect on “Four Seasons in Java,” which celebrated its world premiere in the Centrepiece programme at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.
Supported by the #RedSeaFund, the film follows Pertiwi as she returns to her village at the foot of Mount Bromo after twenty years away, confronting the past in a story exploring resilience, memory and the different seasons of a woman’s life through a blend of realism, magical elements and mystery.

ضمن محطة سيؤول من برنامج الأفلام الطويلة، استضافت معامل البحر الأحمر مدير التصوير السينمائي الكوري كيم هيونغ-كو، الذي عمل على عدد من أبرز أفلام السينما الكورية، من بينها «ذكريات جريمة قتل» و«المضيف» و«حلوى النعناع»، في جلسة من سلسلة «إنسباير».
وخلال الجلسة، شارك كيم خبرته في بناء الهوية البصرية للفيلم، والعلاقة الإبداعية بين مدير التصوير والمخرج، وكيف تنطلق الصورة من القصة والشخصيات لتمنح كل فيلم لغته الخاصة.

How does an image become part of the storytelling?
During the Seoul workshops of the Red Sea Labs Feature Film Program, acclaimed Korean cinematographer Kim Hyung-koo, whose credits include Memories of Murder, The Host and Peppermint Candy, joined us for an Inspire session exploring the craft of visual storytelling.
Drawing on his career behind some of Korean cinema’s most distinctive images, Kim discussed the creative relationship between cinematographer and director, and how visual language can grow organically from story and character.

Five Red Sea-supported films are heading to London. 🇬🇧
Ben’Imana, Concrete Land, A Girl Unknown, Hearing and House of the Wind have been selected for the BFI London Film Festival 2026, continuing their journeys on the international festival circuit.
Supported through the Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Souk, the five films bring together filmmakers and stories from across the region, reflecting the breadth of voices the Foundation continues to champion.
We’re proud to see these films reach new audiences in London and continue building momentum on the global stage.
