Really, the album started when my manager said to me, 'Would you like to meet @thisiswatt?’. I went, had a cup of tea, and was sitting around just chatting. We started playing, and I struck a chord, like a mad chord. We just kept going. It became this production journey where we made all these songs to our satisfaction. And we just enjoyed it, like a couple of Boys of Dungeon Lane. Little boys in a sandpit, having fun! Our journey through Dungeon Lane continues with the Special Edition. What a brilliant and exciting surprise to be part of such an incredible list @mercuryprize. To have ‘The Boys of Dungeon Lane’ recognised alongside so many brilliant artists and albums is a huge honour for me. Thank you to everyone who continues to support and enjoy the album. We have been having so much fun along the way. From making it with @thisiswatt to getting it out there for people to hear. I must say the reaction has been really special. Dear John Frieda has passed away, and it is the saddest thing. Having known John since the 1960s, he always impressed me with his charm and wonderful sense of humour. He was a very elegant man, and whenever we met privately or at a concert, he and I had a lot of fun. His good looks stayed with him from the Sixties right through to the end. I can’t believe I am saying “the end”, but it is unfortunately true. He leaves behind a loving family. He was a great father, husband, and a good, solid friend. My family and I will always remember him fondly and cherish the twinkle in his eye. God bless John, and may his family and friends be as strong as he would have wanted us all to be. 05 Nov 2026
