Members of the Yankees had the chance to visit Walker the Heart Warrior at Boston Children’s Hospital this week 💙 Before our series in Boston, seven-year-old Walker sent a message inviting us to visit him at Boston Children’s Hospital as he waits for a miracle heart transplant. In addition to his bravery in the face of a battle no kid deserves, Walker has also bravely worn his Pinstripes and cheered loudly while in Boston. Over the past four days in Boston, Ben Rice, Cam Schlittler, Will Warren, and Aaron Boone took turns surprising Walker and his family, as well as other warrior patients and staff at the hospital. We’re honored to stand with Walker and his family — we’re all rooting for you, and can’t wait to see you in those Pinstripes at Yankee Stadium soon! 23 Apr 2026

“We can do hard things” - Walker, the Heart Warrior We started Walker’s journey to his miracle heart transplant 12 days ago, with an expected wait time of 12-18 months at Boston Children’s Hospital. Life will look very different for a long time, with moments, both big and small, that we will have to miss out on. But this week showed us that we are not alone in this journey, and that there is so much kindness and support rallying behind our heart warrior, Walker. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to the entire @yankees organization, for showing up in the biggest way for Walker, and our family. Hospital Day 209/🫀Waitlist Day 192: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey It was a fun Friday for some of us, others …(ahem, Brian)…it was not. Brian’s flight from DC got postponed, then cancelled, rebooked for later, and then cancelled again, so he had to stay another night before (hopefully) making it home tomorrow. For the rest of us, it was a good day. Walker started with virtual morning meeting then his tutor. After it was all about @fallguysgame Friday in Seacrest Studios. Walker absolutely loves this ‘adults vs kids’ bi-weekly showdown on the @nintendoamerica Switch. It was a rainy day so we built lots of @lego , played lots of @uno and then hit up Seacrest for Dance Party Friday. Kennedy had school while McCoy hung with Brian’s mom and aunt and we are grateful with Brian’s plot twist that they can stay to help us out until he gets back. We got to celebrate a fellow heart transplant warrior’s discharge parade, give another transplant friend some @topps cards and @padres hat (thank you Diego!) and an @uno championship belt and Walker enjoyed an evening @toppsdugout pack rip session. Hospital Day 208/🫀Waitlist Day 191: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey It was a Wicked good Thursday (😉💚🩷) starting off with Walker’s virtual morning meeting followed by his tutor. After a lot of consideration, Brian decided to travel to DC for an overnight work trip (risky considering we could receive a call at any time about Walker’s miracle heart) but we have Brian’s mom and aunt here to help with Kennedy and McCoy so I can stay by Walker’s side. Walker had a lot of fun building his new @crunchlabs kit which was a Weather Station and was one of his favorites (he’s still hoping he receives that Platinum Ticket each time he opens his box @markrober). Walker had a blast in Seacrest Studios for Arty Party and then after school, Kennedy and McCoy came over for a very special visit from THE Elphaba @wicked_musical @broadwayboston . Kennedy dressed as Elphaba (of course) and we had the privilege of an intimate performance and it’s an experience I’ll remember forever😭💚🩷 Thank you for coming! We ended the day with some fresh air to take advantage of the mild weather which I fear could be the last for a while. Hospital Day 207/🫀Waitlist Day 190: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey Today was simply a happy day. Walker had virtual morning meeting followed by his tutor. Any chance we got Walker wanted to play Pokémon ‘Guess Who’ and @uno and I was happy to play as many times as he wanted because what’s better than that? Brian WFH(ome) and Brian’s mom and aunt came to help us out for a few days and got Kennedy to school and then brought McCoy over to the hospital for Bingo. Meanwhile, Brian and I both made it to Kennedy’s Parent-Teacher Conference, Kennedy had a half day and the brilliant PTO planned a movie afternoon so Kennedy stayed until her regular release time before we made our way over to the hospital. We spent lots of time on the roof enjoying the gorgeous weather (can we bottle this up?) doing crafts, playing hide and seek and of course ended our day with some more UNO in the cardiac resource room with 🫀 friends. #heartwarrior #hearttransplant #chdawareness #donatelife #childrenshospital 04 Nov 2026

@ben_rice22 came to Boston Children’s Hospital to meet Walker on April 20, 2026, a week after Walker was admitted and started his heart transplant journey. They instantly bonded and Walker gave Ben a red bracelet with his ‘W heart autograph.’ Ben immediately put it on, saying he’d wear it during the upcoming series against the Red Sox (and the @yankees proceeded to sweep the Sox). Ben held on to that promise, and then never took it off. Throughout Ben’s incredible season, including the All-Star Game and HR Derby, and into the PostSeason, Walker was right there alongside Ben for it all. Ben’s 40th Home Run was captured on a special @topps card and Walker is right there on his wrist. Walker’s reaction to seeing the card for the first time is everything 🥹🫶🏻 Ben and Sara, we adore you both, thank you for bringing Walker along with you for the season, for making him feel so special, and for always thinking of him. Hospital Day 206/🫀Waitlist Day 189: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey With it being Election Day, Walker had a slow morning without his tutor today but kept busy playing Pokémon Guess Who and so many rounds of @uno in the cardiac resource room. Brian WFH(ospital) while Walker had his PICC line dressing change and a great outdoor PT session in the gorgeous weather. Walker got to meet @lpga_tour Pro @megan_khang and played some Putt Putt Trivia in Seacrest Studios. Thank you for stopping by and being so kind! Kennedy’s school was closed today and after dropping McCoy at school, we enjoyed some playground time, hit up @traderjoes and then we enjoyed a nice afternoon in the yard. Hospital Day 205/🫀Waitlist Day 188: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey After the busy Halloween weekend it was back to business with Walker’s virtual morning meeting while Brian WFH(ospital). Walker’s in a twice weekly lab schedule and Mondays he gets the full work up (drawn through his PICC line which makes things much easier) and then Walker was due for his second dose of the MenB vaccine. Post-transplant, the immune response to vaccines won’t ever be as robust so the recommendation is to get whatever possible in beforehand. Walker deals with so much and handles a ridiculous amount of hard everyday but vaccines are a fight. He got it done with the support of Brian, the team and the @laughterleague clowns coming by right after with impeccable timing. He then got to go down to the gift shop and chose a Christmas dumpling squishy. The rest of Walker’s day was much better with lots of cardiac resource room time with some of the ‘backpack heart gang’ (fellow heart transplant warriors all waiting for their miracle hearts) playing @uno and eating popcorn. Walker got some really special packages today from @scripts_apparel ✝️ as well as his former flag football coaches and team who all signed a football for him. Walker played his first season of flag football during fall 2025 and was nowhere near the strongest…nowhere near the fastest…but he most certainly had the most heart and LOVED being a part of the team. Receiving that token meant so much, thank you for keeping him a part of the team 🏈♥️ Kennedy and McCoy had school and then Kennedy had ballet and McCoy and I enjoyed lots of playground time taking advantage of the mild sunny weather. Hospital Day 204/🫀Waitlist Day 187: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey A Sunday to Remember. It’s hard to believe it’s November 1st and we’ve crossed another month off in the hospital. @wicked_musical is my all-time favorite Broadway show, I took both Kennedy and Walker to watch the movie when it came out in theatres and Kennedy chose to be Elphaba this year for Halloween. When I heard Wicked was coming to @broadwayboston I knew we had to try to go. Today, my mom and I surprised Kennedy with tickets, she excitedly got dressed in her Elphaba costume and we headed to the hospital to drop off McCoy for a boys day with Walker and Brian, and made our way to @citizensoperahouse for the show. It. Was. Everything. I cried so many times, this musical hits me in so many different ways, and getting to experience it alongside Kennedy was so special. During the intermission, a woman stopped me and said “I follow your son’s journey” and after chatting briefly, I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing at her kindness. Thank you Rebecca for saying hi, for your support, love and generosity 🫶🏻 While the girls were Defying Gravity, the boys had a great day at the hospital working on their @dudeperfect @nexplayground basketball skills, played hide and seek on the rooftop, refueled with lots of candy, and watched @nfl games. After picking up McCoy, Brian helped Walker get through his IGG infusion. He then decided he wanted chicken drumsticks for dinner so @doordash it was to satisfy the demands. Fun fact, in my former life before kids, I was a marathoner (x10). I ran through all three of my pregnancies but haven’t managed to find the time to dedicate to any sort of distance or training since having kids (I wonder why🤣) I had the privilege of running the @nycmarathon in 2015 and seeing everyone run the 5 boroughs today brought back a little spark, but tracking @sfalkson @robyn_athletic and seeing her absolutely CRUSH 26.2 wearing Walker’s red bracelet (😭♥️) today inspired me that maybe, just maybe, it might be time to lace up my sneakers again. #heartwarrior #hearttransplant #broadwayinboston #wickedthemusical #wicked 01 Nov 2026

Hospital Day 203/🫀Waitlist Day 186: Walker’s Heart Transplant Journey HAPPY HALLOWEEN🏴‍☠️🎃👻🧡 Today was really great. While the overwhelming majority of people are thrilled for Halloween to be on a Saturday, for us in the hospital it meant things would be quiet and a typical weekend…but a group of us transplant families decided to put together a Halloween party and it turned out amazing. THANK YOU to @popupbagels for making sure we had the goods 🥯, @joespizzanyc for the delicious ‘za, and shoutout to BCH engineering for helping us make this day so special for the kids. We played games, had crafts, and finished the party off with a piñata. We also got together yesterday to pack hundreds of bags of candy and set up stations around the cardiac floor for the kids to trick-or-treat. Hospital Halloween was epic and I’m so grateful for the wonderful families we get to spend our days with 🫶🏻 Walker’s ‘stoop’ and room was fully transformed into Pirate Island (thanks to Brian) and he had such a great day. My mom then stayed with Walker for the evening so that both Brian and I could take Kennedy and McCoy trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. All the decorations and atmosphere was next level and the kids loved every second. We missed Walker so much but I truly feel we made this Halloween so special despite the situation and it’ll be one Walker, Kennedy and McCoy remember forever. Meanwhile, Nana and Walker had a great time doing puzzles and building @lego and got to enjoy dinner together. Brian went back to the hospital for the night, our @miamihurricanes pulled out the W in true @canesfootball Cardiac Canes fashion and are now 8-0 🙌🏻🧡💚 and I am going to sleep with such a full heart. #halloween #heartwarrior #hearttransplant #hospitallife #trickortreat 31 Oct 2026
