I’m really looking forward to my exhibition ‘The edge of things’ opening at Foam in Amsterdam this September.
It’s the first major survey of my work, spanning four decades. I’ve been very fortunate to work with the wonderful team at Foam, curator David Campany and FEP to bring it together.
It opens on 18 September. I hope you can see it.

'The edge of things' is showing at Foam Museum, Amsterdam, until 31 January 2027.
I’m very grateful to Karin van Gilst and everyone at Foam for supporting this work, and for being the first museum to show 'The edge of things'.
If you’re in Amsterdam, I hope you’ll have the chance to visit before the exhibition travels to other venues internationally.

Dark Line – The Thames Estuary, published by GOST, is available as a collector’s edition via the link in my bio. It includes a signed 16 x 20” limited edition print of one of two images: Water VIII (Cliffe Pools towards the Fort), England, 2016 or Water XVIII (Shoeburyness towards Mulberry Defences and on to Grain Power Station), England, 2015.
These are pictures that don't divulge much, and this is true of all my work. I wanted to add texture for a viewer and did so by hinting at the journey one might take while looking at a picture that is invariably water and sky. I hope that the way I feel about the works can be transferred to another, and that you feel the weight of history and past generations on the silt and the water in my pictures.
There'll be a book signing at the GOST booth (L15) at Paris Photo next Thursday, 12th November, at 4.30pm. Prints from the series will also be on display at Howard Greenberg Gallery’s booth (C24).

Meeting a person you've watched on TV and had such a reaction to… “How is he doing this stuff… I can't believe it… Noooo”... is quite something.
He's written a long-form essay on satire that's getting attention, too. Thank you, as ever, to Time.

Trenta per trenta
NADAV KANDER
Interviewed by @MaurizioFiorino
“I work even when I don’t have a camera in my hand. Often, in fact, even more so”, says @NadavKander. Among the world’s greatest photographers, @Foam_Amsterdam is honouring him with an exhibition, “The edge of things”, open until 31 January, which brings together over four decades of images. From the landscapes of the Yangtze River to those of the Thames, from Chernobyl to portraits of Barack Obama, David Lynch and Rosamund Pike, right through to studies of the human body. A way of seeking out what binds them together: the fragility of existence, the passing of time, solitude and that quiet intensity that can lie hidden in the most ordinary things.

I photographed him on the stage in the West End for @kathyryan and the New York Times. It’s quite awhile ago now. I remember him coming in and saying to me, "I came in from the Country for this, I thought I’d only spend an hour, but then I heard it was you”. I took it as a compliment that he was prepared to spend longer, but what he really meant was that I had photographed him before and things hadn’t come together well, so I took quite a bit of time to turn it around. Thank you for your patience Patrick Stewart.

Dark Line – The Thames Estuary is published by GOST and available now via the link in my bio.
The book brings together photographs I have made along the Thames Estuary for some years, presenting the series in its entirety for the first time.
A journey through water and the weight of history attached to it – neither means much without the other.
Thank you to the whole team at Gost for bringing this to life.

"I work to reveal just enough; the lit area fading into blackness, I hope, invokes the mystery of the unseen and unknown, leaving the viewer to wonder what dangers or secrets lie waiting in the vast, impenetrable darkness." — Nadav Kander
This work by Nadav Kander is available via Foam Editions as a print in an edition of 20.
