Stories have the power to bring us together!
McAllen Public Library is proud to welcome the Tree of Life book collection, generously gifted by the Consulate of El Salvador. This special visit brought together stories, cultures, and community as Vice Consul Andrea Calderon shared a reading with students from Valley View Elementary School.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Consulate of El Salvador and our City of McAllen officials for helping make this meaningful occasion possible.
Together, we're building connections and celebrating the power of stories across cultures!

It’s the season of giving! ❤️ Our Food for Fines program is back, giving you a chance to clear overdue library fines while helping families in our community!
From Sunday, November 1, through Sunday, December 6, donate canned goods at any McAllen Public Library location and receive $3 off existing fines for each item donated.
No fines? No problem! You’re still welcome to donate and help make a difference. All donated items will benefit the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.
Let’s come together, give back, and make a positive impact in our community!

Good books are even better when you have someone to talk about them with!
Whether you're organizing a new book club or looking for your group's next read, McAllen Public Library's Lit Kits can help you get started.
Each kit includes up to 10 copies of the same book, along with discussion questions and information about the author. That means less time tracking down books and more time enjoying the conversation!
Lit Kits can be checked out for six weeks with your MPL library card at Main Library. Browse our available titles and find your book club's next pick: mcallenlibrary.net/services/book-club-kits
