ON STONE – LEARNING FROM LESSINIA Curated by @josephgrima One of the four exhibitions presented at THE BEDROCK during Marmomac 2026, On Stone – Learning from Lessinia was born from a collaboration with companies from the Veronese area, bringing together quarries, workshops and stone-processing businesses that preserve a knowledge built up over generations. In Lessinia, stone is not simply a material. It is part of the language of the territory, shaping roofs, dry-stone walls, thresholds, floors, furnishings and everyday architecture. A way of building in which material, place and use have always been closely connected. The exhibition explored how this knowledge continues to evolve through new technologies, from CNC processing to the reuse of existing elements and research into recomposed materials. Traditional knowledge and contemporary production meet here not as opposing approaches, but as part of the same continuous relationship with stone. @guardini_pietre, @quintarellipietremarmi, @zivelonghi_pietre, @tommasipietre, @lavarinipietre and @mignolli_alfonso contributed to this exploration of Lessinia as a territory where the relationship between extraction, transformation and construction has been developing for centuries. Marmomac’s 60th edition brought together 50,000 professionals from 132 countries and 1,300+ exhibitors from 54 nations over four days. 63% of visitors came from abroad, with growing attendance from key markets including Türkiye (+20%) and India (+16%). Business was at the heart of the event: at the stands, across the halls and through 3,200+ scheduled B2B meetings, connecting 450 top hosted buyers from 58 countries with companies across the industry. Natural stone, technology, chemicals and tools, architecture and design — brought together by people, connections and new opportunities. Thank you to everyone who made this 60th edition possible. CARISMA MATERICO Between ancient knowledge and new technological possibilities, stone is once again exploring its role in contemporary architecture. The exhibition explores the potential of natural stone through four architectural installations, bringing together digital design, technological innovation and a deep understanding of the material. Four different interpretations move between structural and ornamental, heavy and light, pure minimalism and tactile expression, showing how stone can evolve without losing its identity. The installations are made possible through the work of @ghirardistone , @arredodipietra , @peroni_guido_srl and @gtmconsapevole , the four companies contributing to this exploration of stone and its future in architecture.
