oh sadz!! This was one of the first mugs I made that I was truly happy with and marked a shift in direction. It had a perfect feel in the hand, and ample volume and the handle was perfect. One of the last photo-collages I did. I'm digging around my desk tp for some of my work I want to print for my home. My dig had died in my arms not to long before. I felt the crack in the world as he moved from this place to another. I felt that death was green. And not scary, but like birth. He breathed like I did as I was giving birth. And somehow I just knew how to breath with him. "I will take care of your body, It will become earth". I told him this again and again those final seconds. He was not sure about letting go, and I was saying 'trust me, trust me'. And then a lightening bolt of electricity hit both of us. I tried to capture something in this work. I'd like to print it for myself soon. Not a show, not a gallery or even a body of work or a thesis or an idea. Just the raw experience. #photography 06 Nov 2026

These were some patterns that I was working on at the turning of the year, and feel really compelled to revist. The colors are ones I mixed up myself to get the right pagan vintage feel I had a taste for. So lets hope I can mix them again...we'll see.. #potterystudio 10 likes · 05 Nov 2026

This was my favorite kiln load ever, ever! Most of this work is gone, but the dreamy green bird jar is still here. I luv her. This covered jar evokes a tiny fantasy world of an unhurried, languid afternoon of collecting wildflowers and filling vintage vases, as a garter snake slips away from you in the garden, a green bird lands nearby briefly, and you have all the time in the world for watching a beetle crawl around your fingers. The sweet beautiful little sculpted green bird lid… you can lift it off and use the jar as a vase. I am still working on crafting a meaningful life, I’ve never done anything else. With so many beautiful moments, I have a tendency to bury when I am exhausted. How can wonderful things exhaust me, I’m not allowed to say that out loud. I’m not allowed to rest or demand I be treated better, by myself and others. I am coming to terms that this is a relational issue with my body, who I have pushed too too too far in the past, and then she rebels with excruciating pain. So I am working on having honest conversations with her, where I am doing more of the listening then scolding. I whisper “you are allowed to rest”. “You are allowed to be disappointed, you are allowed to say no and walk away, you are allowed to be by yourself, and take it very slow. You are allowed to breathe and not ‘earn your keep’. You already earned it. Rest on your laurels. Feel your feelings, don’t be shy about it. Try to forgive yourself when you didn’t say ‘no more’, when you betrayed yourself. You were survived, you were strong. You get to be tired. That's me doing a residency at the Amazon art studio during lockdown. I've never shared this work. My life took a turn into the underworld right after this, and I never really revisted this photoshoot, or printed anything. these weaving are in a box. I've done so so so much work that is just stored away, as have pretty much every artist. Some day...or maybe not. Or maybe the digital files will just vanish and..🤷‍♀️ 26 likes · 04 Nov 2026

I work very hard to make sure baby bears are safe and sound, it’s a good and important job. Sometimes I even get to paint pottery, but not this baby bear. They EAT everything, huffalumps included! As some folks know, I am on hiatus from teaching in-person classes in my studio. A few reasons…I need some space in my studio for my own work time, and I wanted to build a Webshop, and also just feel refreshed while I teach. It’s good to take a break, even on things we enjoy! So that means no in-person weaving course until March 2027. BUT you can still weave with me! I have an incredible in-depth class on @carlasonheim Online School! Doing so will also lead you to ALL the other amazing courses available in the school, so much collage and sketchbook creativity, drawing and on and on. I painted this mug at the peak of summer, when I feel most in love with every fruit and grateful for this incredible thing that some trees do - provide delicious treats! I love sampling my neighbors figs on walks, and find painting them really meditative. Then around the rest of the mug are all my favorites to paint, with bright rich colors so you can almost smell them. This mug is a big jumbo with all fingers in the handle, and a lovely bottom that sits in the palm of your hand.
