When I’m designing for Lowbrow Antics, I’m not chasing trends — I’m chasing connection. We’re living in a moment defined by micro-trends: aesthetics that appear overnight, demand immediate buy-in, and disappear just as quickly. The result is overconsumption without identity — buying things that don’t really feel like you, just to keep up. Cult films are the opposite of that. They’re personal. Timeless in their own special way. They resonate because they speak to something deeper — real life reflections spun through real creativity in an attempt at giving us perspective and belonging. You don’t just watch them… you carry them with you. Lowbrow Antics exists to turn that connection into something wearable. Jewelry and art inspired by the films that shaped us — not to follow trends, but to bridge people through their storytelling interest. A nod across the room. A conversation at a theater. A reminder that your taste doesn’t need to be universal to be valid. Personal style, like film taste, takes a lifetime to cultivate. It’s influenced by the stories that move you, the things that unsettle you, the art that refuses to let go. Wow. Just wow. Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Welcome to the Dollhouse Screening & Todd Solondz Zine Release Party @academytheaterpdx last night. You could’ve spent your Friday night doing a million other things, but you chose to get nostalgic and experience some inner child feelies whilst decorating Polaroids with stickers and gems, reading an independently published film zine, and listening to me gab about the Solondz rabbit hole I’ve been in since May. It was a dream come true for me - I hope it was fun & feely for y’all too (& if so, maybe tell people!
