For our latest edition of Pocket Concerts, we welcomed vocalist Anna Serierse and guitarist Gijs Idema to the studio.
Having played together since their time at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, the two musicians share a longstanding musical partnership that has resulted in three albums with the Idema/Serierse Quartet: MOTUS (2020), Cloud Studies (2023) and Serenade in Blue (2025).
Known for her expressive voice, impeccable timing and versatility, Serierse moves effortlessly between jazz standards, Brazilian music and contemporary jazz. Her work has earned her three Edison Awards, most recently in October 2026 for Serenade in Blue. Idema brings his distinctive approach to jazz guitar, combining improvisation with influences from classical music.
For this Pocket Concert, the duo explores the interplay between voice and guitar, bringing their musical chemistry to an intimate performance full of nuance, spontaneity and improvisation.

Holy moly…. Last week we received the EDISON nationaal vocaal for our album Serenade in Blue 💙
We wanted to make this album purely to capture our love for this beautiful music at @roodebioscoop , one of our favorite venues out there, and we are so incredibly honored to get this award for an album that is so close to our hearts.
We want to thank everybody that has been a part of this record!
Of course Cas and @drumstim for playing so beautifully. Martijn Grootendorst to have us at the @roodebioscoop , @faderflip for sound and mix, @wesseloltheten for the mastering, @doxamsterdam for releasing it and of course all the people who contributed to our crowdfunding: without you this album would not have been here!💙

COMING UP: William Barrett Band
Tumbling saxophone lines, lightning-fast drums, acrobatic guitar sounds and a bassist climbing high up the strings: this is the music of bassist and bandleader William Barrett. For his debut album, Barrett chose the most direct route, trying out all eight compositions in an Amsterdam bar before recording them at theater De Roode Bioscoop.
The result is Live in Amsterdam, a record that returns to the essence of jazz with playful, spontaneous music. The compositions breathe the spirit of John Coltrane and Pharaoh Sanders, led by an adventurous bassist who drives his ensemble from the front. With Mo van der Does on saxophone, Gijs Idema on guitar and Wouter Kühne on drums, Barrett has assembled a band of familiar faces on the Dutch jazz stages. Live in Amsterdam is released on June 12 on DOX Records.

SERENADE IN BLUE IS 1 YEAR OLD!💙
We are still so proud of this album and so happy that we shared this beautiful music with so many of you last year during our tour.
Last month we played in the beautiful Willem de Zwijgerkerk in Amsterdam, and Ian de Jong from @ianavrecording made a beautiful recording.
