When the opportunity to have a garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate 50 years as the UK’s leading youth charity arose, there was only one thing to do: put young people at the heart of it. Something we’ve done since 1976. Planning for today began last year, when young creatives were given the floor to imagine what a ‘youth takeover’ at Buckingham Palace could look like. These ideas became reality, and today our young people brought the garden to life with their incredible skills and talents, making this a 50th anniversary celebration like no other. Before the world tours, sold-out arenas and global success, Muse were simply three teenagers with a shared dream. In their early days, The King's Trust helped Matt Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard purchase their first PA system, giving the band the boost they needed to take their next step. "When we were starting out as a band, The Prince's Trust gave us a small grant to buy our first PA system, which I still have to this day. Decades later, the band continues to champion us, including through their iconic Royal Albert Hall concert.
