A little peek BTS from rehearsal to performance of the #disneynight opening number I had the privilege to choreograph. Myself and @ronaldhidalgo09 staged the entire number with the cast in a few hours. All of the dancers are so quick and so kind and work so incredibly hard. It is unbelievable! Then, about 24 hours later the director, designers, sets, costumes, production, camera crew, stage managers, etc add their magic and it becomes this spectacularly gorgeous final product. It’s awe inspiring how precise and fast and creative and expert everyone working on this production is. All led by @mabardi @kaykalbfleisch @qqquinny and their amazing team. Also, @janravnik nailed it as The Greatest Showman! Bravo!

A huge thank you to the entire Dancing with the Stars team: the dancers, producers, creative team, director, and crew for such an incredible experience. The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is truly staggering…essentially producing a new Broadway show each week…live! Your talent and dedication are an inspiration. I’m grateful and proud to have been a small part of this record-breaking season. @dancingwiththestars #DWTS #DWTSFinale

The Little Mermaid, behind the scenes: these seemingly simple few seconds on film took days and days of intensely focused rehearsals to perfect. I am extremely proud to have overseen and worked out the synchronization and timing of so many moving parts coming together here— Stunts, Actors, Puppeteers, Dancers, Art Directors, Assistant Directors, Stage Managers, etc. Each of these brilliant artists seamlessly working as one and bringing their A-game to this highly choreographed moment. We worked like this for every frame of “underwater” work. Every second specifically staged to each beat of dialogue and music. It took a village! Bravo! #thelittlemermaid

Choreographing the underwater extravaganza Under The Sea for The Little Mermaid was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my professional career thanks to every single glorious artist in this photo!! In keeping with a time honored Disney tradition of using live dancers as physical inspiration for the ultimate animated forms, director Rob Marshall invited members of the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater to London to join our rehearsal process. It was a dream come true!! Creating a number on and rehearsing with these phenomenal dancers was hugely inspiring and an experience I will never forget. Having each of these extraordinary Ailey dancers in the room, joined by our incredible and indefatigable Core Dancers and Puppeteers made for a process filled with joy, laughter, creativity, energy and imagination. I am extremely grateful for each and every one of these exceptional humans for trusting in me and for collaborating to produce a cinematic sequence I could not be more proud of!!! We came together and did what we love to do…dance. And it was fabulous fun!

In January 2019, I was blown away when Rob Marshall and John DeLuca called to ask me to be the choreographer for their next movie-musical, The Little Mermaid. (I’m sure I dropped the phone!)
And last Monday, on one of those perfectly gorgeous LA evenings, I was thrilled and honored to walk the blue carpet and attend the film’s World Premiere. It was a joyous, moving and magical evening, and I was unbelievably grateful to be able to celebrate with so many beloved members of our phenomenal cast and crew. I love this film and I was extremely proud seeing the remarkable work of each and every one of them up on screen at the Dolby Theater. Best of all, I was able to share this enchanting evening arm and arm with @brucepask, my favorite person on the planet. I’m a lucky guy!
