#THEMANUALOFACTION “When I’m on film, I’m not a method actor. I call myself an anti-naturalist which is the complete opposite of method acting. I’m working from my memory, remembering traumatic or happy emotions that happened in the past. What I like about live performance is that it taught me to exist entirely in the moment and the present. If the artwork, the poem, the image or the piece itself is strong enough, it always sticks. The day we filmed, I had a feeling of faith and confidence that what we needed was going to present itself. Even if we couldn’t carry my big Christmas tree, and my Statue of Liberty out of the apartment, I was still able to bring my bowling balls. It happened also thanks to the incredible team you assembled. Something that I learned during this process is to minimize instead of maximizing. 🖤🎂 Our 10 minute (!) video for @circa.art featuring New York-based artist @kembrapfahler_ premiered tonight in London at Piccadilly Circus, as well as in Seoul, Berlin, and Milan. For the next three months (! !), every night at 20:24 Kembra’s video series called The Manual of Action, produced by @circa.art and @rischenstudios will grace the big screens in these four cities. 🏆 In April 2021, I was working in Los Angeles when my friend @lucafinotti called that he needed help - he was working with director Ivan Cotroneo on a documentary about Italian singer and legend @laurapausini, who was nominated for an Oscar for best original song. But because of Covid-19, none of the Italian crew members were allowed to travel to the United States. Laura’s music was always present in our family’s home (my Dad would play and sing her song La Solitudine on the piano always and forever) and in the car on vacation we would all loudly sing along with her hits - so obviously I said yes. For the rest of that week I followed Laura and her husband Paolo around everywhere with my camera, and I had the always wonderful help of @jeffrey_schneider11. Laura, Paolo, and their whole team were just the loveliest, most down to earth, and welcoming people ever, and I had a blast. And while Laura didn’t win the Oscar, it was incredible to witness her immediately turning it into a positive, by telling me, “You know, now I can teach my daughter that you can’t always win in life.” And she insisted I ate along with their burger and fries from In & Out - which was our first stop after the Oscars ceremony. Only in LA will you take a limo to In & Out. 🤍 . The documentary “Laura Pausini: Pleased to Meet You” is out now on Amazon Prime. Congrats to everyone involved! xx 16 Sep 2022
