Trying to explain why I can’t use Instagram anymore is wordy and I can hear my daughter June running around upstairs so I’ve decided to delete it all to save you the time. We are all on our own beautiful personal journeys and I don’t like the idea of mine taking up any more of your time today with my ramblings while there are bugs to look at and books to read and watermelon to eat. It’s peak summer and I hope you are feeling it full on and I hope you are tired and I hope you have bug bites and somewhere on your leg a cut from a rock or a raspberry bush and I hope it feels like you are doing it even if it isn’t quite what you imagined because don’t worry about it your version of it the one you are experiencing well it seriously is it and it seriously is beautiful and it all seriously is love.

We worked pretty hard in the studio yesterday and managed to get our canvas backdrops hung in Studio A. They are a little finicky still to roll up because the canvas is thick and heavy but also, they are just so nice. I took some photos of Niall and I’m off to drop the film at @downtowncamera before I head out of the city but I can’t wait to show some more.

I need to make a few tests tomorrow in the studio and figure why the heck not, lets make some portraits.
If you’re interested in coming for a hello, we can chat and I’ll snap a few shots and then I’ll edit them together over the weekend for us both. I can probably have 3 visitors and still get my work done, that feels about right.

New home new light
trying to explore it with the same eagerness as I did
back when old home was brand new
we all were much younger
had also just lost lots
but knew there was lots more out #there for us
don’t know how long we’ll be here
but boy is it the goal to be here for all of it
Months weeks forever days all lost in the light
is there a way to make memories less of a collage
It’s not in the recall, I don’t believe it’s in the recall
But rather in how we write them.
There must be a way to write them distinctly.
I want to etch in moments so I have them forever
Clear and crisp as the sun as it comes through our skylight after we’ve cleaned up lunch dishes and decided it’s not too late for another coffee
but I think I’ve only learned how to etch in trauma
all my nice memories are a warm sudsy bath of the past that swirls together and moments get lost and blended and was I 25 or 29 and was Marty there when the #starling came down our chimney or was it just me and ___ who was living in the other room at the time.
Can your days be so nice that they get written in memory as convincingly as the ones that scar, I don’t know if it’s possible because nice feels so soft and accepting it’s #impossible for it to not absorb what’s around it like falling back into a newly formed snowbank with a full snowsuit on you sink in there’s no stopping it it would be like asking fresh snow not to fluff asking nice memories to be rigid asking their embrace not to engulf you and here we are we are young and experiencing it imagine what it will be like to be so far from this all when we are older we won’t remember why all this good was good
we’ll remember the stress of looking for boosters
and your voice when you called
and how everyone in the shop looked at me and knew something had happened by my tone
and we’ll remember how everything changed and in the month that followed I learned how to truly fear
crisp and clear
but also feel the suds around that and we’ll just know that in and amongst it all there were times where we were together and it was warm and there was so much of it left for us to move through and because we would go together it was good and more than ok.

and then it most certainly, for suuure buddy, brings beyond normal results that are worth it all worth #everything more than you could have expected completely different from what you thought
and it’s all such a #cumulatively good time.

It’s been a very busy fall.
Today I’m free to do whatever I want for the whole day.
I’ve already walked Maybe with dear friends.
Ashley’s at work until 8.
I’m eating hot dogs and watching a 2 & 1/2 hour talk on how the tech team filmed phantom thread that @mrdanielwarth told me to save for a good day.
Today is a good day.

No surf today so I spent the morning making clips of ripples and rocks out on the peninsula near Hugh’s place and then I decided to try and take a picture of myself and this one really seems to have worked out.
