'Magazine' Hand Finished Edition A little look behind the scenes on the hand finish process of the 20 unique prints from my upcoming release with @graffitiprints on November 11th at 5:00 pm BST. Each print sees the addition of various elements such as rocket, marbles, toy soldiers, pencils, candies etc... Or transformation of the planet my characters are looking at. All hand painted. These elements allow to tell a different story each time, bring symbolism, and making each print totally unique. Today is the opening of @peinturefraichefestival ! For the first time I was invited to create a large scale mural on 12x8m wall. It was trully a fun experience to see my character on such a scale. I could have used one more day to really finish all the details I wanted to put in, but it was a great learning experience. And hopefully in the future I'll be able to do some more. 'Après la pluie' For the group exhibition “Art History,” opening at @mazelgalerie in Brussels on September 17, I chose to reinterpret one of Claude Monet’s paintings: Woman with a Parasol, facing left, painted in 1886. What interested me was not so much reproducing the original painting, but preserving the feeling it conveys: a figure standing almost entirely against the sky, the movement created by the wind, the parasol, the dress caught in the breeze, and above all, that extraordinary sense of lightness. I also wanted to push the feeling of weightlessness found in Monet’s painting even further. My character is no longer simply caught in the wind: she leaves the ground and lets herself be carried away with the falling leaves. The parasol remains the most obvious connection to Monet’s original composition. A few raindrops are still present, but the rain has passed. The sky opens, the wind rises, and suddenly everything seems lighter. This moment inspired the title 'Après la pluie' (After the Rain): that fleeting instant when something has just passed, when the weight seems to lift, and for a few seconds, it feels possible to simply let go and allow yourself to be carried away.
