𝕷𝖆 𝕸𝖚𝖏𝖊𝖗 𝕯𝖊 𝕬𝖗𝖆ñ𝖆𝖘 •photos by thee @saraheiseman• Desde que tuve mi consulta para mi operación (laparoscopía exploratoria), he visto arañas por todas partes. Se me acercan en el salón, en mi casa, en cualquier carro, en cada momento. Durante este proceso de tratamiento médico, he tratado de empujarme a hacer lo que puedo con mi cuerpo, mis finanzas, mi chamba y mi mente. Tratando de controlarlo todo. Forzando un resultado. Como las arañas, he intentado tejer mi propia red, sin saber cómo va a terminar. Una lluvia, un incendio o una corriente de aire pueden destruir horas, días, años de trabajo. Así también puede deshacerse la red que he intentado construir alrededor de mi salud. En mi intento de controlarlo todo y entender cada señal, descubrí a la Gran Diosa de Teotihuacán. La Gran Diosa de Teotihuacán. La diosa de la fertilidad. La Mujer de Arañas. Nunca me había sentido tan cerca de mis ancestras. De la maternidad. De nuestras madres. De todas las mujeres que vinieron antes que nosotras. Después de seis años visitando doctores, tantos ultrasonidos y buscando respuestas para mi cuerpo, la semana pasada mi doctor me dijo que la única opción que podía ofrecerme para reducir el dolor, sin garantía, era una histerectomía. Esta es mi única opción dentro de la medicina moderna. Mi red se ha deshecho. Eso no es una solución para mí. Ni para tantas otras personas con úteros. He decidido seguir viviendo con el dolor de la adenomiosis para preservar la posibilidad de tener hijos algún día. Al mismo tiempo, me siento afortunada de poder escoger. De poder hacer este sacrificio por un futuro con mis hijos, que todavía no están aquí. Afortunada en dolor. La Gran Diosa de Teotihuacán es mi protectora. Unos días antes de mi operación, Sarah y yo decidimos hacer esta sesión de fotos. Entre tantas sincronicidades, me recuerda que estamos constantemente tejiendo nuestras propias redes, aunque nunca sepamos qué forma tomarán. Que hay un plan para todas nosotros. Que la vida también está tejiendo algo para nosotras. Ese día tenía tanta fe. Esperaba que todos mis dolores desaparecieran después de mi operación. Pero esa no es mi realidad. 💀 halloween over the years 🎃 When my brother + I were little, my mom would wake us up at 5 am every Halloween to do our makeup before school. I remember feeling so cool on the rare days I was allowed to wear makeup to school. In high school, with YouTube tutorials as my bible, I started to play. The last photo is from my first high school Halloween. I remember taking so much pride in my DIY cat ears. (Disregard the Tarte Amazonian Clay BB cream that’s two shades too light.) Over the last few years, I’ve settled into a default rotation of clown + calaca (a cheap shot at distracting from my lack of an intentional wardrobe). In these weeks of being stuck at home post-op, I’ve found my way back to play. Learning to honor that little me who was so eager to be woken up at the ass crack of dawn every Halloween school day. 🖤 23 Oct 2026
