Every photographer sees the world differently. YES… this is how we see it. BUT… this is where it all began. Photography doesn’t end with the click of the shutter. That’s where the creative part begins. Where your vision takes shape, bringing out a feeling, expressing yourself and creating a mood and giving the image its own character. The raw image, though, holds the moment: the light, the composition and the atmosphere. It’s not about changing what was there, but about bringing forward what you felt when you captured it. Because the moment is the same, the composition is the same, yet two photographers can see it differently and tell two entirely different stories. And that’s the beauty of photography. Look at these sand formations! Don’t they look like giant hills of whipped cream?🍦 We honestly didn’t know where to look. The dunes felt almost unreal, huge, soft and perfectly sculpted, like sandy waves. And then there was the feeling of walking on them. Every step sank gently into the sand, so soft it almost felt like walking on powder. Happy World Whale Shark Day🐋 Looking back on 2022, when we found ourselves in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by these giants. It was a cloudy morning off the coast of Borneo, diving alongside four whale sharks. In the water, it was almost impossible to grasp just how enormous these gentle creatures truly were, until we saw them captured in our photos. We believe that the most beautiful encounters with wildlife are the ones where we simply share the space without taking anything away from it. Whether on land or underwater, we should be able to admire animals without disturbing them, giving them the space and freedom to simply be themselves. There is something incredibly special about being able to observe an animal where it truly belongs, in its natural environment, rather than behind glass or within an enclosure. These moments are a privilege and as photographers, being able to witness such incredible animals in their own world and preserve a small glimpse of that moment through our work is a true honour. The least we can do is approach them with respect and let them remain wild. Protecting wildlife means learning to coexist with it. Every time we experience animals in their own world, we are reminded of how extraordinary they are and how small we are in the presence of their beauty. Four years later, this memory still feels incredibly special. And perhaps, soon, we’ll find ourselves back in the ocean once again.
