A hundred years ago, Sandy Irvine and George Mallory climbed into the sky on Everest and never came back. The last few days have shown me his spirit lives on today. His legacy of youthful courage, fire and drive has stood the test of time. He wasn’t just an adventurer, but a man who lived fully, pushing limits with a grin and strong will. I am incredibly grateful to have been able to help uncover just a bit more of their story with @jimmychin and @therealmarkfisher. Cheers to Sandy— a century of inspiration! 14 Oct 2024 Great Trango Tower, Pakistan. The wildest skyline I’ve ever seen. The face of Great Trango (on the left) is 6000 feet tall… After over a month in Pakistan, it turns out it’s skiable! Thankful for the strongest teammates / mentors and an all time talented crew! About halfway there we had to cross a river that nobody had crossed in 20 years. We had to find a low spot to cross then bring up all of our team and gear, so we went up and down the river trying a bunch of different places over the course of a week. In the end @paulekimbrough built a bridge out of ladders. #everest #everesttheotherside 01 Nov 2026 A post from @jimmychin reminded me that one year ago today, @jimwmorrison skied the direct North Face of Everest and we were all standing on the summit together. It’s been the fastest year of my life, and I keep noticing how quickly it slipped by. Right now I mostly feel appreciation and a lot of relief. This was a massive effort, physically, and emotionally. This is the first fall I’ve been home in three years. I missed three of Kate’s birthdays and three of my own. The project took up a huge part of my life, and it’s strange to see it finally come to a close. It’s also been a hard year. We lost @guideyukta this summer. He was part of this team, someone I shared so much with and someone I loved, and his loss has hit me especially hard. Sharing this film was a way to work through some of that, and this year it kept going. I miss you, Yukta. If this film and this year have taught me anything, it’s that life is short and precious. Seeing how fast the last twelve months went is a good reminder to slow down and take it all in. What I’m proudest of is the friendships. When you live with a crew for more than six months in some of the most extreme conditions on earth, working as hard as you can toward one shared goal, you end up with something rare. That kind of purpose and clarity doesn’t come around often, and I’ll hold onto it for the rest of my life. Getting to be a part of this was the coolest thing I’ve ever done. Jim had been working toward this line for years, through two failed attempts and everything life threw at him along the way. Watching him clip into his skis on the summit and drop into the Hornbein was something I’ll never forget. And Jimmy built the team and the film around that belief. I learned more from those two over these four years than I can put into words, and I’m proud to call them friends. Everest: The Other Side is in theaters and IMAX October 30. I haven’t seen it in IMAX yet, but I’ve heard it’s something else. If you get the chance, see it on the biggest screen you can. 15 Oct 2026 @jimmychin says there are two great risks in life. Risking too much, and risking too little. My dad died in 2009, when I was 15. One of the last things he asked me was what I wanted to do with my life. Then he told me that if I didn’t want the world to decide for me, I had to chase it with everything I had. For years after, I was looking for that thing. Then in college I saw Meru. I’d never seen anything like it. I walked out knowing exactly what I wanted to do. Tell adventure stories, like Jimmy. So I went and did it. Started filming and climbing. Became a mountain guide. Worked with incredible mentors and got a few expeditions under my belt. In 2020 I heard a whisper that this project on Everest was happening with @hilareenelson and @jimwmorrison . I felt a calling. I had to be a part of this. No plan, no offer, no idea how it would work. I asked my brand new girlfriend, @swimstagramz, to bet on it with me. She talked her way into becoming the first remote employee in BlackRock’s history and moved with me to Victor, Idaho, into a one bedroom A-frame, just so I could be in the same town as the crew. She took the bigger risk of the two of us. She’s my wife now, and I owe her everything. Everest: The Other Side just premiered on the festival circuit and hits theaters October 30. Looking back, this whole stretch is the clearest example I have of those two risks. I can’t wait for you to see it. These photos are from the after party at Oprah’s house. The highlight of the whole trip was handing her a book. After Hurricane Katrina, Oprah donated a large amount of money to Architecture for Humanity to build homes in Biloxi, Mississippi. My dad was the engineer on that project. He gave his time for free, and my family got to be a part of it. The book is called Rebuilding After Disaster, and it’s dedicated to him. Giving her a copy of something she paid for, with my dad’s work inside it, was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Talk about full circle. 11 Sep 2026 Oprah Winfrey was a pioneer in making every person’s lived experience feel worth sharing - she paved the way for a whole culture of person-centered storytelling that didn’t exist before her. Growing up watching her do that work made an impact on me and led me to make documentary films. To have her embrace Everest: The Other Side and champion the incredible Jim Morrison - that’s more meaningful than I can put into words. Full circle doesn’t begin to cover it. 10 Sep 2026 Nothing like chasing @jimmiryan and @madisonnnrose around. BTS from our Grand, Middle, South ski a few years back. #teton 15 Jun 2026 @canonusa C70s and I have been through some abuse over the years. Here’s what forty below zero at 17,000 feet on Denali looks like. We borrowed money to buy these bodies and a couple of lenses, then took them straight up the mountain for three weeks. Over a thousand pounds of gear between @steinretzlaff @vasu_sojitra @benjifarrar @plp_mcafee @tedhesser and I. Pete McAfee and Vasu Sojitra going for the first adaptive ski descent of Denali. Most of the climb I skied with a C70 hanging around my neck. We were hauling so much that there was nowhere else to put it. Sometimes we had some cold issues with the body, but I guess -40 is not standard operating - fair enough! The image quality blew my mind. That dual-gain Super 35 sensor (the same one Canon used in the C300) gave us some of my favorite footage I’ve ever shot. Still one of my favorite cameras. Cameras are more durable than people give them credit for. My first Denali trip I climbed with a Nikon Z6 and a D850. At night I’d pull the battery to keep it warm in my sleeping bag, then bury the D850 body in a stuff sack in the snow: bombproof. Gear is a tool. Respect it because you paid real money for it. Then go push it to the edge of what it can do. The work gets interesting when you’re juggling what the camera can survive against what you can survive. #Denali #holdmyleg 13 May 2026 The Zombie || An obscure line in the Tetons shrouded in mystery and lore. It’s wild, it’s steep, exposed to hanging cornices the entire way, and stacked above cliffs. @jimmiryan, @erichroepke and I teamed up to find out what it’s all about. New episode just dropped with a link in bio! @mountainhardwear @4frnt_skis @spicy_studio_outdoor 17 Feb 2026 When @jimmiryan and @claytonherrmann call and say they want to do something in the park and don’t share all the details, you know it’s going to push your limits. Check out the @scottsportsusa episode on our descent of the rarely skied Zombie Apocalypse. 17 Feb 2026 Happy 30th Birthday to the life of the party, @kyle.roepke! Can’t wait to see what the next decade has in store for you! 21 Dec 2025
