Wishing a very Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating this weekend in Wycombe and beyond! The Festival of Lights is a time of joy, hope and togetherness, celebrating the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. It’s also an opportunity to recognise the wonderful contribution of our Hindu, Sikh and Jain communities, who do so much to enrich life here in Wycombe. I’ve really enjoyed visiting both the Arul Gana Miku Uchi Murugan Kovil temple on Bridge Street and the Shri Meenatchi Amman temple in its new home on Desborough Street this year. Wishing everyone celebrating a joyful Diwali filled with peace, happiness and prosperity! 🪔 #diwali 07 Nov 2026 Charlie and Harry Stallwood were brothers from High Wycombe who lost their lives serving our country during the First World War. The sons of Walter and Louisa Stallwood, they grew up on Westbourne Street. Their father was a chairmaker, a trade Harry took up before he was killed. Private Charlie Stallwood served with the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He was killed in action in Mesopotamia (now Iraq) on 22nd November 1915. His brother Sergeant Harry Stallwood, served with the same regiment. A keen footballer and cricketer, he was affectionately known as ‘Apples’. Harry was killed in action in Flanders (now Belgium) on 22nd August 1917. Both brothers were still in their twenties when they lost their lives and are commemorated on the High Wycombe and District War Memorial at Wycombe Hospital. I have placed a memorial cross in their honour in Parliament’s Constituency Garden of Remembrance, created by the Speaker of the House of Commons in partnership with the @royalbritishlegion As we mark Remembrance this weekend we will remember Charlie and Harry and all those from our constituency who lost their lives in war. We will remember them. 05 Nov 2026 On my visit to High Wycombe Fire station, I learned about the challenges of fighting wildfires and tried out the new rural fire fighting vehicle. Our brave firefighters deserve the best equipment and facilities possible. I am delighted that Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has secured an £8 million budget to create a modern, sustainable fire station in Wycombe that is fit for the future, whilst retaining a fire service presence at the heart of the community. I also welcome the news that the government is investing up to £45 million in additional specialist wildfire teams and new wildfire-specific protective equipment. The new kit will be lighter and more breathable than existing equipment, helping firefighters stay protected and comfortable for longer when responding to wildfires. This summer was the UK's hottest on record, and the Met Office has found that climate change made the extreme heat around 130 times more likely. That's why I welcome the government's action to develop England's first Wildfire Action Plan, covering prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. A huge thank you to Wycombe's firefighters who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. 04 Nov 2026 Of course the brilliant men and women across the country who run small businesses are working people - they are the backbone of our high streets and our economy. 03 Nov 2026 We met @emmaforwycombe MP to chat about her role, how she got into politics and her advice for anyone thinking about getting involved. Plus, a look behind the scenes as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury prepared for the Budget 💷 #budget #bts #interview 03 Nov 2026 Exciting news! Two Wycombe businesses are through to the finals of the British Kebab Awards 2027. If you've enjoyed their food, you can vote for Zem Kebab in the Best Delivery category. You can vote for Historia Meze Grill in the Best Kebab Restaurant – South of England category (links below). Best of luck to @historiamezegrill owners Sibel and Gok, and Halil from @zemkebabfishandchips. I'm looking forward to visiting both again soon. https://www.britishkebabawards.co.uk/bka_finalists_2027?category=best_delivery&nominee=Zem%20Kebab%20Fish%20and%20Chips https://www.britishkebabawards.co.uk/bka_finalists_2027?category=best_kebab_restaurant_south_of_england&nominee=Historia%20Meze%20Grill 02 Nov 2026 I would like to invite primary school-aged children across the Wycombe constituency to design my Christmas card for 2026. See https://emmaforwycombe.org.uk/card/ for how to enter. The winner and runners up will receive a prize and a certificate. My Christmas card will be sent to the Prime Minister, Members of Parliament and to hundreds of local businesses, schools, faith groups, sports clubs, charities and community groups. Almost every primary school in Wycombe entered last year. Looking through all the entries is my favourite job of the year. 01 Nov 2026 A win for motorists in Wycombe. The Labour government has introduced a new Private Parking Code of Practice that will freeze maximum parking charges at £100. Charges will be cancelled for circumstances outside a driver’s control, such as medical emergencies, vehicle breakdowns or faulty ticket machines. We're also capping absurd charges for genuine mistakes e.g. when drivers enter the wrong registration number. Good news! 31 Oct 2026 No one should ever have to sleep rough. I know that Wycombe residents find rough sleeping unacceptable, which is why hundreds of people volunteer every year at the @wycombehomelessconnection 's Winter Night Shelter. The volunteers' commitment and compassion make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our community. I welcome the Prime Minister's announcement of an extra £432 million, taking funding to offer rough sleepers a route off the street to £874 million, and extending support through this Parliament. The Housing Secretary Angela Rayner recently announced plans to give English councils new powers to refer homeless households directly to housing associations and registered providers. The Prime Minister has also hosted the first ever Rough Sleeping Summit at Downing Street, bringing together businesses, charities and local leaders to unite behind the mission to end rough sleeping. 29 Oct 2026 Lights! Camera! Action! 📸 See a behind the scenes shot of Downing Street on the day of Budget 2026. 29 Oct 2026 Today’s Budget is all about giving breathing space to families and businesses, and hope for the future. As global conflict pushes up costs, we’re taking action today while building a stronger, more resilient economy that delivers growth in every postcode. 28 Oct 2026 Respect Orders launch today, giving TVP Wycombe and Buckinghamshire Council stronger powers to tackle persistent antisocial behaviour and help make our communities safer. Wycombe residents regularly contact me about antisocial behaviour in the town centre, around All Saints Churchyard, Frogmore and High Wycombe Bus Station. Labour’s Respect Orders will give authorities tougher tools to hold offenders to account, while also requiring them to take part in drug, alcohol or anger management programmes that address the root causes of their behaviour. Our high streets, parks and public spaces should be places where everyone feels safe and welcome. These new powers are an important step towards restoring respect in our communities and ensuring that residents can enjoy shared spaces without fear of intimidation or disruption. 26 Oct 2026
