The idea of Analog Week was both simple and complicated: invite old and new friends of Desert Doghouse to a “by invitation, open house” week in the desert. The term analog travel has become a buzzword, and we have been leaning into it. Not because the term describes us particularly well, but because we have always felt that small details, done right, can create an environment where humans connect better. Access to complicated technology is rarely the driver of great memories. Or, said more simply: “Analog,” for us, means “better in person.” Since opening the Doghouse as a third space available for productions, special events, and special occasions, we have felt that the house attracts a certain kind of clientele. Often, it’s creatives who feel drawn to the aesthetic of the house, and with them come their ideas, their creative spirit, and maybe a different level of conversation. Analog Week was no different. We invited many people who had stayed or created at the house before, as well as a select group of people including directors, magazine editors, publishers, designers, artists, models, photographers, and others who have made an impression on us. The conversations that happened at the house, the new friendships and collaborations that formed, and the laughs around the table validated everything we are trying to do in the desert. We love when guests share their favorite parts of the house. Every once in a while, we have a famous guest who posts photos or video from the property. Often, we don’t even hear about it until months later—or we stumble across it completely by accident. This one was a little different. The guitar picks scattered around the house gave it away. Some guests leave a note. Some leave a bottle of wine. Some leave clues. Then we found the video. This was almost two years ago, so we figured enough time had passed to share the story. 27 Oct 2026

There is a whole world of people who remember what it was like to be “under stimulated”. To truly look forward to something special. Not manufactured corporate promise of luxury sold like an amenity, but “analog” connection and child-like anticipation the way we remember it… but sometimes can’t find the words to express. This is what we have attempted to curate in the desert. Some of our lighting pieces are 300 pound glass statutes, some cost more than a used car. We have them - not because they are expensive - but simply because we love looking at them. How they set the mood, they break the light, and move the shadows across the walls. The same way our large steel doors divide and frame the endless desert view like picture frames: If you know you know. Capturing this sense of under-stimulation, analog human connection, anticipation, light, shadow and refined beauty was our intent for this 1 minute film.
