We’re incredibly excited to announce that BETTER has been selected for the 27th Newport Beach Film Festival @newportbeachfilmfest.
BETTER will have its World Premiere on Saturday 17 October at 5:00 PM at Big Newport, Screen 4, followed by a second screening on Monday 19 October at 6:00 PM at Big Newport, Screen 6.
Starring @tom.hopperhops in a dual role as estranged identical twins Henry and Patrick, alongside @laurahopperhops as Henry’s wife Cassandra and @noa.nikita.
When his father dies, Henry discovers he has an identical twin who is richer, happier and seemingly better than him in every way, igniting a dangerous obsession with taking his brother’s life for himself.

In 1976, a plane carrying three tonnes of marijuana crashed into a frozen lake deep inside Yosemite National Park.
When rangers discovered the wreck, they assumed the remote winter conditions would keep the cargo safe until spring.
They underestimated Yosemite’s climbers.
Young, broke and looking for adventure, climbers from Camp 4 made the brutal journey into the mountains, broke through the ice and began hauling out bales of weed.
What happened next became one of Yosemite’s wildest legends.
Fifty years later, HIGH GROUND brings together the climbers, rangers, federal agents and families who actually lived it to tell the story of the crash, the drugs, the rumours and what really happened.

Really lovely piece in the San Francisco Chronicle on the story behind High Ground, published on the day of our world premiere in Yosemite.
They call the film “an incredibly enjoyable and informative watch” and place it alongside Valley Uprising, Free Solo and The Dark Wizard in the canon of Yosemite documentaries, which is pretty special company to be mentioned in.

50 years after the story began, HIGH GROUND is coming home to Yosemite.
We’re incredibly excited to announce the World Premiere of HIGH GROUND at Yosemite Cinema, Oakhurst, on 5 September 2026 at 7pm.
The film tells the extraordinary true story of the smugglers whose plane crashed into a frozen Yosemite lake, the rangers who discovered it, and the broke Camp 4 climbers who secretly trekked back into the mountains to steal the weed.
After the screening, stay for a Q&A with the filmmakers, climbers and people involved in the story.
This one is going to be special.
