Sheryl Crow has joined country artists Kaitlin Butts and The Kentucky Gentlemen, along with more than 140,000 petition supporters and fans across the country calling for the change. Now, Tennessee state Rep. Todd Warner has pledged to introduce a bill to make the name change a reality.

In September 2020, @ParisHilton launched a petition to shut down Provo Canyon School, a youth residential treatment center in Utah where she says she endured abuse as a teenager.
ㅤ
Now, the school is closing for good.
ㅤ
Hilton spent the last six years turning her allegations of abuse at Provo Canyon into a broader reform movement. From Utah’s Capitol to Congress, she helped push for stronger oversight of youth treatment programs, especially in Utah.
ㅤ
On Friday, the Utah Department of Health and Human Services determined that both the boys’ and girls’ campuses were not safe for the children in their care, marking the end of a years-long push for accountability from Hilton and fellow survivors.

Wikie and her son Keijo, the last two captive orcas in France, have spent their entire lives at Marineland Antibes. The park closed in January 2025 amid declining attendance and a French law phasing out whale and dolphin performances and captivity, but the two orcas remain there.

Most of the park’s veterinary staff and animal caregivers have reportedly been dismissed since the closure, though officials say a reduced crew continues to provide basic care.

Photojournalist @sephlawless has spent months documenting Wikie and Keijo and started a petition calling on France to secure a safe, transparent relocation plan. More than 91,000 people have signed, urging independent veterinary oversight and asking that mother and son remain together unless experts determine otherwise.

Nearly 14,000 people have signed a petition asking Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment to create another major expansion for the video game.
ㅤ
Following the release of From the Ashes in December 2025, petition supporters want more opportunities to explore Pandora. They’re asking for a new region, Na’vi clans, wildlife and stories, plus more ways to play with friends.

Should schools be able to use Google Search without its AI features?

Google's planned changes will turn off Search and several AI tools by default for K-12 student accounts, letting school administrators decide which services to enable.
ㅤ
Schools can turn on Search while keeping the Gemini chatbot off. The catch: Search still includes AI features. Schools that want to prohibit AI entirely would have to leave Search off, too.

A petition is asking Google to offer another option: let schools keep Search while disabling its AI features.

A University of Chicago student has filed an ethics complaint against Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) after she discouraged young people on his campus from working for the Trump administration.

Should you still be able to play a video game you purchased after its servers shut down?

Anthem became unplayable on Jan. 12 when Electronic Arts shut down its servers. Because the game requires an online connection, even players who own a copy lost access.
ㅤ
Gaming commentator @bigbustersword24 started a petition asking EA to bring it back by restoring its servers, creating an offline version or allowing a community-supported alternative. More than 14,000 people have signed.

He points to the game’s flying mechanics, combat and cooperative gameplay as reasons it deserves another chance. “Anthem may be gone, but its community doesn’t have to be,” the petition reads.

A petition is asking four major pet retailers to change how they display betta fish. Petco, PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus and Pet Supermarket typically keep bettas in individual plastic cups until they're sold.
ㅤ
According to the petition, the cups have no filtration or steady heat, and waste can build up in the small amount of water. It says bettas may stay in them for days, weeks or months.

The petition, started by the group Betta World For Bettas, asks each company to publish a plan by March 2027 for ending cup displays, either by moving to heated, filtered tanks or by ending betta sales. More than 7,000 people have signed.

A University of Chicago student has started a petition asking the Senate Ethics Committee to review remarks Sen. Elissa Slotkin made on his campus, and he lays out his case in a new op-ed for The Federalist.

Michael Bicksel writes that the Michigan Democrat told students in October she wanted graduates weighing Trump administration jobs to worry about “a ton of problems.” He’s asking Slotkin to say whether she believes a senator may use investigations, or the threat of them, to discourage young people from taking lawful government jobs.

Slotkin has defended her remarks, saying she “touched a nerve” by talking about corruption.

Micah Reed (@bruinstr) opened his LADWP bill and found a charge of $3,322 for two months, more than $2,100 of it for electricity. He says his family kept the thermostat at 74 degrees through the Valley's triple-digit heat.

On Oct. 1, he started a petition calling for an independent audit and summer rate relief. More than 42,000 people have signed, and Reed delivered nearly 40,000 signatures to the LADWP Board of Water and Power Commissioners, joined by other residents who shared their own bills.

Should special education classrooms have cameras?

After a classroom aide raised concerns about her daughter’s suspected mistreatment by a teacher, petition starter Ashley Hopwood says the only incident that could be verified happened on a playground where there were cameras.
ㅤ
Hopwood, whose children are nonspeaking, is calling for cameras in self-contained special education classrooms across California. Over 26,000 people have signed her petition.
ㅤ
She argues that cameras could help protect students who cannot tell their families when something is wrong, with safeguards for students’ and staff members’ privacy.

(Content warning: Sexual assault) Cornell’s Students Against the Sexual Solicitation of Youth (@sassycornell) is petitioning New York lawmakers to close what advocates call the “voluntary intoxication” loophole.
ㅤ
State law recognizes that someone who is unconscious or physically helpless cannot consent, even if they chose to drink. It also covers mental incapacitation caused by substances administered without consent.
ㅤ
But when someone voluntarily drinks or uses drugs and remains conscious, being too intoxicated to consent may not meet the law’s standard.
ㅤ
The petition urges the State Assembly to pass A.101, covering cases where someone knew or should have known the other person was too intoxicated to consent.
