It’s been TWO YEARS since I made a new post. So where have I been?
Before I explain that, this feels like the right time to reintroduce myself for everyone new here.
My name is Joe Dimino, and today is my 28th birthday. For over a decade I’ve been a photographer & director, creating social content for brands, product launches in the footwear space & event portraiture.
Some people might wonder if I still shoot for brands, some might even think I fell off. The truth is, I’ve actually been more productive in my business than ever.
But as a freelancer, I realized I needed to structure my work in a way that protected my energy, prevented burnout & that also made me feel motivated to share the process behind what I was creating. Over time, three things made me avoid posting.
1. Every time I thought about sharing new work, I was already onto the next project. The moment would pass & once it lost its immediacy, I felt no motivation to talk about it.
1. I treated this account like a portfolio where only my “best” work belonged. But the reality is that only a small percentage of projects felt deeply fulfilling. Many were simply done to pay the bills, which made me prioritize what paid well instead of what actually made me happy.
And with those expectations, consistency became almost impossible. I realized I was putting pressure on myself to show perfection instead of sharing the journey.
So going forward, I want this page to be more than just a highlight reel. I want it to reflect the process, the stories & the moments behind the work. Even the ones I thought weren’t enough at the time.
I’ll be digging through two years of archives & finally sharing the projects and experiences that shaped me along the way.

It’s that time of the year ☀️
The first time I made it out to @raggedythreads Friends Pop-Up, I enjoyed the time catching up with old friends, meeting new people & taking portraits of everyone who makes this community what it is.
Tomorrow @orangepancakes is doing it all over again.
Vintage, drinks & some of the best people in the game under one roof. I’ll be there for @granpasso89 amazing pizza!

I’ve realized I procrastinate sharing my work because of presentation 👇
Most people would say it already looks good, but I’ve always felt that if I’m putting time into something, it deserves to be presented properly.
Back in January, the @hommage.nyc team put together a collection of Polo pieces that deserved exactly that.
From studio product sessions with @alexisryder_ & @futurepastnyc to styling @classicalnevy & @fineanddandyarchives to be photographed around the neighborhood, every part of the process was focused on giving the collection the attention it deserved.
One thing I’ve learned from creating visuals for the shop is that great vintage isn’t just about what a piece is, it’s about how it’s presented. The fit, the wear, the details & the story all matter, even how it’s presented.

I grew up loving comedy & improv, so when @asap_cael first invited me to the @sre_improv show, it felt like the perfect way to spend my night doing what I love while laughing the whole time 📸
Steam Room Etiquette is one of those NYC groups where anything can happen. Chaotic & uncomfortable in the best way. Built to make the whole room laugh at things they probably shouldn’t.
Tonight catch @asap_cael & @sre_improv live at the Dixon Place Theatre in LES at 8pm. I’ll be there shooting portraits & I heard only a few tickets are left.

I had the opportunity to fly down to Tampa & shoot a campaign with my friend @johngeiger for his latest “Misplaced Series” collection with @lidshd and @neweracap 📸
This collection features 18 @NFL teams reworked through JG’s signature Misplaced logo designs, blending sports culture with his own language of design.

Last month, I had the chance to reconnect with old friends, speak with people who inspire me over the years & meet new faces along the way.
I never know who’s going to be in front of my camera next, but I always try to make the most of the moment, it’ll be even more special when we cross paths again.
