Fashion is on the verge of losing two prominent young European brands. Late last week, Hungarian label @Nanushka said it has significantly scaled back operations amid mounting debt and losses. Paris-based @Coperni made headlines just days later, with its founders announcing the brand will shutter after failing to reach an agreement with its majority owner, Tomorrow Ltd. Both brands were recent rising stars in the independent fashion landscape. Their struggles underscore a persistent challenge for young labels: turning cultural cachet and brand awareness into a durable, profitable business. Today, consumer tracking metrics show domestic sales and youth market share are rebounding strongly. BoF’s @LeiTakanashi explores what’s driving the brand’s resurgence — and why its appeal is crossing generations. Titled “Christian Dior’s Night in Colour,” the brand touted the film as hand-illustrated, detailing French animator Sylvain Chomet’s process on its website. “Technically, we work as they did in the 1940s,” a quote from Chomet read on site. “Everything is cut out, each character is animated separately, and everything is then assembled against the backdrops.” But online sleuths said they detected discrepancies in the animations. Several noted that while Chomet may indeed have illustrated the primary frames and characters, the team could have used AI to speed up the animation process. Dior did not immediately respond to BoF’s requests for comment. Rose, whose London-based label (@martine_rose) is a longstanding cult favourite, is the first creative director hire by Kering chief executive Luca de Meo, who has also initiated creative shakeups at the company’s Saint Laurent, McQueen and Brioni labels. Rose is only the second Black woman to ever take the creative helm at a major European fashion house. Her appointment follows Grace Wales Bonner’s arrival as menswear designer at Hermès in 2025 — both hires marking breakthroughs for the historically male-dominated, homogeneous creative director role. Developer Rick Caruso’s Palisades Village shopping centre officially reopened in August, with retailers like Violet Grey and Elysewalker serving as a new draw for consumers after several luxury labels, such as Chanel Beauty and Saint Laurent, opted not to return. BoF's Liz Flora (@liz_flora) took a look at what the post-fires Palisades retail landscape looks like and how the area is faring so far. The departure is part of a broader creative shakeup as the French group seeks to reinvigorate performance under new chief executive Luca de Meo. The departure of Saint Laurent’s star creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, was announced last month. McQueen has also recently parted ways with designer Sean McGirr. Gucci, meanwhile, is still struggling to build momentum for its creative vision under creative director Demna. De Meo has said the company’s “org chart is always in pencil” as he seeks to engineer a turnaround for the French fashion conglomerate. None has leaned harder into the no-frills, rock-bottom-price pitch than Ross. But when the Dublin, Calif.-based retailer takes over Manhattan’s Refectory on Nov. 5 for a first-of-its-kind elevated fashion presentation, Isha Nicole, Ross’ new creative director and senior vice president of brand strategy, hopes shoppers will see the chain in a new light. BoF’s Sheena Butler-Young (@sheena.butler.young) explores @Ross’ bid to reinvent its fashion credentials without losing its bargain appeal. Next year’s Met Gala and corresponding Costume Institute exhibition will be called “extraOrdinary: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday.” Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s curator in charge, told The New York Times that the exhibit will look at everyday items like jeans and T-shirts through a more fashion-centric lens. Bolton said this theme “brings up ideas of value and consumption and resourcefulness and makes us question what we overlook and what we discard.” Read the full story #linkinbio ✍️ @dianaspearl 📷 @voguemagazine 05 Nov 2026 New York fashion label Guizio will launch its first perfume on Nov. 12, The Business of Beauty can exclusively reveal. The scent, Heaven Knows, features notes of pear, blackcurrant and praline. It will retail for $104 and debut on Guizio’s website before rolling out to its three standalone stores in the US from Nov. 16. Founded by designer Danielle Guizio in 2014, the brand has carved out a cult following for its feminine, playful designs. Its loftlike flagship store on Manhattan’s Greene Street has been the fragrance’s unofficial testing ground: Guizio said staff have been scenting the space with the unreleased juice using an industrial diffuser. The watch pays tribute to the Hindu deity Ram, whose homecoming after 14 years in exile the festival celebrates. Each specially crafted timepiece costs 31.25 lakh rupees ($32,898). Nearly two thirds of the collection has already sold out. Diwali is becoming an increasingly important marketing moment for brands looking to tap into Indian consumers, whether at home or among the country’s sizeable and wealthy diaspora. Arnika Thakur examines how brands are translating the festival’s cultural significance into commercial opportunity — and where the biggest returns may lie. As AI automates more of the shopping experience and price hikes strain loyalty, retailers are leaning harder on the one thing a machine can’t replicate: a human salesperson who knows exactly what their clients want. From Nordstrom’s uncapped commissions to Bloomingdale’s dedicated personal shopping suites, the perks on offer for top sellers who can single-handedly move millions of dollars in merchandise show just how valuable the talent has become. In this episode, senior correspondent Sheena Butler-Young (@sheena.butler.young) is joined by BoF’s retail editor Cathaleen Chen (@kittykewlcat) to discuss why luxury’s top salespeople have become some of the industry’s most coveted talent, the lengths retailers are going to attract and retain them and what the high-profile move of stylist Catherine Bloom (@catherinelbloom) from Neiman Marcus to Nordstrom reveals about the increasingly competitive market for elite sellers. 🎙️ Listen now #linkinbio 📷 Unsplash 05 Nov 2026 Rumours of a new Grand Theft Auto VI fashion collaboration surfaced over the weekend. Game developer Rockstar is reportedly releasing a collaborative pair of Air Force 1 sneakers with Travis Scott and Nike, coinciding with the game’s Nov. 19 release. GTA VI is expected to rake in more than half of that in its first week alone, but can fashion get in on this moment? In this week’s The Kicks You Wear, @mikedsykes covers: • GTA VI × Travis Scott x Nike • Nike’s Apex NYC Marathon victory • Yeezy returns to the runway Read more and subscribe to the newsletter #linkinbio 📷 @zsneakerheadz 04 Nov 2026
