Another incredible year of projects out of the studio. This has been a historic year on all fronts. From the music released, the new Grammy nominations and plaques, the opening of our new space - @violetislestudios, the upgrades and renovations at Blue, rebuilt vintage consoles, cover of Mix Magazine, and Namm Tech award nomination. But one of my personal favorite moments this year was getting to work at another amazing studio as a client and experience as an unbiased outsider just how magical a studio can be and how inspiring it can feel when people are working hard as a team to nurture a space and vibe. There's nothing like it. Studio magic is alive and well. Respect to those fighting the good fight. All for the love - Happy Holidays! The brainchild of Bill Jabr and his award-winning Blue Room Studios team in collaboration with WSDG and studio builder Santos Perez, Violet Isle stands as a prime example of where architectural innovation meets meticulous acoustic engineering. Located in Atlanta's dynamic Midtown, this state-of-the-art recording studio offers a unique creative environment with an open floor plan, expansive sight lines, and inspiring city views for A-List artists and producers. Equipped with a vintage SSL 4056G console, custom Augspurger-style monitors, a 2003 Yamaha C7 grand piano, and a curated selection of high-end vintage and modern gear, Violet Isle provides exceptional versatility for a wide spectrum of musical projects. So grateful to be featured on the cover of Mix Magazines class of 2025. At points this project felt like a moonshot. There were so many times when I just wanted to quit and try to get out. This project didn’t have any big artist, labels, or big investors. It’s a completely home grown self funded studio. The pressure of that at times was intense but through the process I got to see just how much people can step up if they believe. I’m also so thankful for my wife Cyndi who always helped refocus me through the breakdowns haha. Watching Santos elevate through this project was pure magic and I’ll never forget those nights when him and I were going back and forth on the phone game planing and problem solving. At a certain point in the project Santos entered into an almost zen like focus. I think he carried a quiet chip from the other studios around town that recently passed him up on a few projects. He had a Mamba mindset. I truly believe that he’s one of the few people around that can execute something like this. Not just aesthetically but all the layers of detail and doing things the right way, carefully with minimal mistakes and extreme attention to detail. Santos and I still call each other almost every day out of routine even though now we don’t have as much to talk about. Our lives still haven’t quite gotten back to normal haha. The pride everyone involved has taken has been amazing to witness. All the help and running back and forth from Drew and Alex and their determination to learn every detail about the place. The custom woodwork by Andy and Pavel. The visits to Pavel’s shop in LA and his passion for the project to make the beautiful hand made speakers and credenza. Also from Will Brown and the WSDG team who worked through multiple revisions and were able to capture the perfect layout and help make my design ideas a reality. As I take the time to look back on the journey and memories I can see my kids go from babies to little kids, the west coast studio revive and expand, a team mature and grow. What a journey it’s been. Part 3: Violet Isle Recording Studios - The space. The flow of the space is so important to me. It’s not often that you get the opportunity to lay out a space from scratch. Most studio spaces have funky things that you just have to deal with, but at Violet, we spent so much time making sure the support spaces have a natural flow with the studio spaces. I’m also personally into architecture and interior design so really wanted the space to have style but also feel relaxed. Pictured here are different areas of the building as well as our smaller ISO room with some outboard gear. We made sure to get stereo pairs of all of our gear and tried to cover as many classics as possible. These include hand wired Neve 1073s, 1176s, CL1bs, dbx160s, API mic pres, Pultec eqm1s, Bricasti m7 reverb and a few more really cool tone pieces along with out high end converters and mic collection. We also put in our current favorite speaker combo: ATC scm25as handling nearfield duties and the big muscle custom Augspurger style mains on Bryston amps Master Plan and layout by @wsdgofficial WSDG @thedukeofsurl @johnstoryk interior design by @billjabr #recordingstudios, #interiordesign 05 Mar 2025

Part 2- Introducing the live room at Violet Isle Recording Studios. Also designed by @wsdgofficial @thedukeofsurl @johnstoryk and @billjabr Acoustic Panels made by RPG and Santos Perez, custom diffuser built by Andy Cornet, movable gobos built by @billjabr Featuring a beautiful/balanced sounding 2003 7ft 6” Yamaha C7 concert grand, a Fender Rhodes, also pictured here are some vintage Yamaha Recording Custom drum shells - also in house. This room features glass views to the outside through an observatory / roll up deck room with views of the city, control room, and open lounge connections with tie lines all around. Opposite the control room is a spacious vocal booth big enough to cut a drum set or upright piano. There are multiple outside windows/outside views of the city with tie lines everywhere. After several years of the hardest work we’ve ever done we are pleased to announce Violet Isle Studios. A free standing world class recording studio located in West Midtown Atlanta, Ga. Violet is the first WSDG room to open in Atlanta and designed in collaboration with @billjabr, @thedukeofsurl of WSDG, John Storyk @blueroomstudios and several others. Built from ground up by the legend Santos Perez. additional credenza and speakers by @pavelguitars and wood work by Andy Cornett, and RPG This week we’ll be introducing pictures of the space starting with the control room. Violet has several unique features including sweeping views of the growing west midtown Atlanta skyline, a new open floor plan style studio layout, and a true one room facility with unmatched privacy and attention to detail. Special thanks to the sacrifice and hard work from @drewkellyofficial and @ajtiming who spent so much time with me helping coordinate this project and being amazing problem solvers. It takes a true dream team to make something like this. We are so grateful for all the amazing artists, producers, and writers that have paved the way for rooms like this in Atlanta.
