DaVinci Resolve 21.2 is now available! This update adds support for the new touchscreen Apple MacBook Pro laptops with PROLED XDR displays, as well as up to 5x faster effects rendering on M5 Pro and M5 Max Apple Silicon chips. On the new touchscreen MacBook Pro laptops, DaVinci Resolve customers can now scroll the timeline using your fingertips, drag and drop effects and titles into the timeline as well as clips into the media pool, and more. You can also pan and pinch to zoom a viewer on the photo, edit, color, media and deliver pages. There is multi-touch support for virtual sliders on all pages, as well as the audio mixer on the cut, edit and Fairlight pages. On the color page, you can now adjust color wheels and master wheels with your fingertips, plus there is support for touch control when using color charts, the color warper, annotations and applying a Power Window overlay. In addition, extracted audio files now use source timecode making it easier to sync and reposition audio clips on the timeline, and the speed of audio access for MXF clips when using network storage has been improved. OGraf template loading from network storage as well as rendering speed have both been further optimized in this update, giving you faster and more reliable read and write of OGraf graphics. AAF timecode accuracy for audio from interlaced media has also been improved. Fairlight Live 1.1.1 is now available and adds support for the new Fairlight Live Audio Panel 20 and Fairlight Live Audio Panel 40, in addition to the already available Fairlight Live Audio Panel 10. This update also includes templates for new ATEM Constellation IP switchers, along with improvements to audio I/O management and error reporting. There is now user defined screen mapping on multi-screen panels, panel screens now return to the home screen when you load a project, and a new automatic standby mode switches off screens and LEDs after a period of inactivity. In addition, bus management now supports applying changes to all busses or a selection of busses and cue player remembers the last file selection path. This release also updates context sensitive help and improves monitoring settings in the patching matrix, layer setup, channel selection and mix minus output initialization. Today we announced UltraStudio Express HD, a new capture and playback model that replaces the older Thunderbolt based UltraStudio HD Mini. It's designed for high quality broadcast use in all SD and HD video standards up to 1080p60, and is compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux computers with USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 connections. With both digital and analog connections, UltraStudio Express HD is perfect for archiving from old broadcast decks, or for editing with DaVinci Resolve. It captures and plays back to 3G-SDI, with analog video and audio inputs for archiving, HDMI output for monitoring and dual SDI outputs for fill and key playback. There's even RS-422 deck control and a reference input, plus an optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel with LCD for video preview, audio meters and timecode. By building this new model around USB4, we can keep it even more affordable so you can plug into the computers you already use. It still has every broadcast connection you need, so you can keep working with the decks, switchers and monitors you've always had. Fusion Studio 21.1.2 is available now! This update adds up to 4x faster OGraf playback, so you can preview animated graphics more smoothly as you work. OGraf clips now also use action durations to place stop actions, so animations stop at the intended point. Support for OGraf select and multi-select template controls gives you more ways to customize graphics, allowing you to choose individual options or multiple options within a template. Responsive OGraf templates now also adapt to the aspect ratio, making it easier to use the same graphics across horizontal, square and vertical projects. Linux users can now work with OGraf and Lottie graphics. There’s also support for custom clip input and output labels in OpenFX, making it easier to identify the clips used by an effect. This update also improves follower animation when using expressions, map time control in mapped duplicate 3D, and undo behaviour when changing dropdown controls, along with general performance and stability improvements. Edward Goldner ACS, cinematographer for the psychological crime thriller ‘Treasure & Dirt’ talks about bringing this six-part TV series to life using 65mm cinematography. Set in a dying opal town in the Outback, this is Australia’s very own ‘Twin Peaks’ full of strange folk and even stranger places. “I wanted the show’s imagery to be classic, shot in a way that would feel epic but also uncomplicated in a sense. We would often try to hold action in wider frames with minimal edits to create a bit of a theater quality. This also fed into the show’s stark, deadpan tone. Blackmagic Camera for Android 3.5 is now available! This update adds settings search, preset shortcuts and 10-bit previews when viewing via remote control, plus optimizations for Android 17, Oppo Find X10 and OnePlus 16 series phones. You can now search for a specific setting in the app’s settings menu, making it faster to find and adjust what you need. New preset shortcuts let you press and hold the app icon to choose from your recently used presets and open Blackmagic Camera with that configuration loaded. This means that you can switch between saved setups for different shooting conditions as you open the app. When using remote control, you can now view native 10-bit previews on supported phones and tablets, showing finer gradations in color and brightness when monitoring your shots. In addition, this update adds Oppo o-log2 recording on Oppo Find X10 and OnePlus 16 series phones, giving you a log recording option for color grading in post production. Performance improvements also reduce battery usage when using the app, helping you record for longer between charges. DaVinci Resolve 21.1.1 is now available with improvements to the trim editor, which lets you adjust the timing of edits in the viewer. You can now trim audio only clips as well as make changes across multiple selected edit points at once. The viewer highlights which side of the edit you’re adjusting, while mouse-based trims include audio previews. This makes it easier to check timing as you work, such as when trimming several clips to fit a piece of dialogue. This update also improves editing of Fusion effects in the inspector so that if you add the same Fusion effect more than once to a clip, each instance will appear separately in the inspector. This means you can adjust them independently, such as applying two different glows and changing the settings for one without affecting the other. In addition, this update adds USAC audio decoding on Windows 11 and improves connection stability when collaborating on multi-user projects. Blackmagic Camera for iOS 3.5 is now available, adding support for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, including control of the variable aperture on the 48MP fusion main camera. This means you can adjust the aperture directly in Blackmagic Camera to control depth of field and exposure, as well as settings such as shutter angle, ISO and white balance. Having this direct control allows you to open the aperture, creating a shallower depth of field to help isolate your subject from the background, or close it down to keep more of the scene in focus. In addition, Blackmagic Camera now supports recording Apple ProRes using pro video storage, giving you another option for capturing high quality files directly on your iPhone.
