🇩🇴 MEET LIZMELL — PRESIDENT🇩🇴 Heyyy! My name is Lizmell, but everyone calls me Liz! I’m so excited and honored to be serving as President of MEDo for the 2026–2027 school year. ❤️💙🤍 I’m a Communication Sciences & Disorders major at Brooklyn College. Outside of school, I love going to the gym, listening to music, taking care of my skin, and just being well-kept. I love having my nails, lashes, and hair done and putting effort into how I present myself. I’ve always loved being feminine and embracing being a woman. 🎀 Most importantly, my faith is a huge part of who I am. I love God, and I’m grateful for the way He continues to guide me and shape me into the person I’m becoming. 🤍 I joined MEDo because I wanted a home away from home — a place where Dominican students could meet, connect, feel supported, and feel proud of who they are. I wanted to help create a community where we can be ourselves while celebrating our culture and where we come from. I’m proudly from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and I love being Dominican because of our strong sense of family, our resilience, our culture, and the way we can always find a reason to celebrate. 🇩🇴😂 As President, I’m looking forward to working alongside our E-Board, bringing our ideas to life, creating events we can genuinely enjoy, and making MEDo a space where everyone feels welcomed and connected. I’m excited for everything this year has in store and all the memories we’re going to make together! 🫶🏽 A few things about me: 🎂 My birthday is September 23rd 🐶 I love dogs and have a fear of cats 🩷My favorite color is pink I’m so grateful for the opportunity to represent MEDo and our Dominican community. 🇩🇴 MEET LISBETH - VICE PRESIDENT 🇩🇴 Heyyy! I’m Lisbeth, but everybody calls me Lis! I’m excited to be serving as Vice President on MEDo’s 2026–2027 Executive Board. ❤️💙🤍 Here’s a little bit about me… I’m currently studying Business Administration at Brooklyn College, and outside of school, you’ll usually find me working out, taking walks with friends, dancing, having movie night, or just any activity where I can be myself and have a great time. I became a part of MEDo because I wanted to be part of something fun and creative, and what better option than to do it with people who share the same culture as me. What I love most about MEDo is definitely planning new events since it brings the e-board together. I love being able to share ideas, work together, and see everything come to life. Being Dominican means embracing my roots and sharing that love with others. I’m proud to have a space where we can celebrate our culture, our people, and our community together. 🇩🇴 In my role as vice president, I’m looking forward to making sure everything goes according to plan while working closely with the eboard and being part of everything we have planned! 🇩🇴 MEET YULIZA - TREASURER 🇩🇴 Heyyy! I’m Yuliza Abreu, but most people call me Yuliza. I’m excited to be serving as Treasurer of MEDo’s 2026–2027 Executive Board. ❤️💙🤍 Here’s a little bit about me… I’m currently studying Theater at Brooklyn College, and outside of school you’ll usually find me cooking my vegetables at home, eating, drinking lots of water, writing, going to the gym, doing anything involved with theater, working, reading plays or books, and interacting with my friends. I love to help people out and bring a smile to an individual’s face when they’re going through a rough or stressful time and push others to think better of themselves or do better. I became a part of MEDo because I wanted to embrace my Dominican roots more, love collaboration, and love celebrating our heritage and culture. What I love most about MEDO is the events that are being done on campus and the energy being embraced by the group. Being Dominican means being proud of who you are, embracing being Afro Latina, our history, food, music, and I’m proud to have our people and our community together. 🇩🇴 In my role as Treasurer, I’m looking forward to being ambitious, taking my work seriously, and improving together as a club. Even though we will have fun together in the club, I can’t wait to be a part of everything we have planned! Now for some random facts about me… 👀 1. I have ADHD 2. I’m the first person in my family to graduate from college with an associate degree! 3. I was born in Puerto Rico, and both of my parents are Dominican. Haven’t been to Puerto Rico since December of 2009, so I’ve pretty much been raised here in the Bronx. 4. This is my first time being a treasurer and joining a club ever. One thing I want everyone to know about me: “PEOPLE CRITICIZE YOU NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. YOU EVEN GET CRITICISM FOR DOING NOTHING. DECIDE TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE, AND YOU WON’T HAVE ANY EXCUSES TO CRITICIZE YOURSELF.” I can’t wait to see what this year brings. 🇩🇴 MEET JAELYN - SECRETARY 🇩🇴 Heyy, my name is Jaelyn, and I am excited to be serving as Secretary on MEDo’s 2026–2027 Executive Board. ❤️💙🤍 Here’s a little bit about me… I’m currently studying psychology at Brooklyn College on the path to becoming a therapist. When outside of school, you’ll usually find me in nature, taking walks, working out, partying with friends, doing creative activities and expressing myself creatively, working as a behavioral tech, diving into spirituality, swimming, and last but not least, eating new foods. I became a part of MEDo because I had transferred from Stony Brook with the intentions to receive the most abundant college experience. Coming to Brooklyn College, I knew I wanted to embrace and have pride in my culture, and I sought that out exactly when joining MEDo. What I love most about MEDO is the fact that I have a sense of community, family, culture, and am able to fully connect with my identity as a Dominican. Being Dominican means experiencing the most loving community, family knits, experiencing an immense amount of love and support, the feeling of the music, and the taste of our wonderful foods. I’m proud to have a space where we can celebrate our culture, our people, and our community together. 🇩🇴 In my role as secretary, I’m looking forward to celebrating my culture, having structure, creating, and being part of everything we have planned! 🇩🇴 MEET JAYLYN - SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER 🇩🇴 Heyyy! I’m Jaylyn! I’m excited to be serving as the Social Media Manager on MEDo’s 2026–2027 Executive Board. ❤️💙🤍 Here’s a little bit about me… I transferred to Brooklyn College in Fall 2025, and I’m currently an undergraduate majoring in Children and Youth Studies. Once I graduate, I plan to attend graduate school to earn my master’s in Early Childhood Education to become a preschool/kindergarten teacher. Outside of school, you’ll usually find me working, hanging out with friends, trying new places to eat, and constantly listening to music. I became a part of MEDo because I wanted to join a community with fellow Brooklyn College Dominican students and be more involved on campus. What I love most about MEDo is how kind everyone is, and how proud we are to be Dominicans and to share our culture with other students on campus. Being Dominican means carrying a culture full of love, sabor, family, and music, and I’m proud to have a space where we can celebrate our culture, our people, and our community together. 🇩🇴 In my role as Social Media Manager, I’m looking forward to informing more students about MEDo, what the club offers to Brooklyn College students, and being part of everything we have planned! I’m excited to be serving as the Photographer on MEDo’s 2026–2027 Executive Board. ❤️💙🤍 Here’s a little bit about me… I’m currently studying Business Administration and International Business at Brooklyn College, and outside of school, you’ll usually find me solo traveling, cooking, taking photos, or simply running errands and enjoying my company. I became a part of MEDo because I wanted more from my college experience. A space where I could connect with people who share a part of my identity, learn more about where we come from, and find a sense of purpose in the community around me. What I love most about MEDo is the passion everyone brings. 🇩🇴 Being Dominican is something I carry with me everywhere I go. It’s in our music, our food, our humor, our resilience, and the stories passed down from one generation to the next. It’s in the sacrifices our families have made to create better opportunities for us. To me, loving Dominican culture means more than celebrating where we come from. It starts by appreciating our history, uplifting our people, embracing the parts of our culture that make us unique, and creating space for future generations to be proud of who they are. In my role as Photographer, I’m looking forward to capturing the moments that make this semester special! The big events, the little memories, and everything in between.
