Yarım asrı aşan bir müzik yolculuğuna saygı, geçmişi tekrar etmekle değil, yeni bir müziğe alan açmakla da gösterilebilir.
2026 Beyoğlu Caz Festivali ve BlurNotes ortak yapımı Ustanın Çemberi, farklı kuşaklardan bağımsız müzisyenleri doğaçlama ve ortak üretim etrafında buluşturuyor.
İlk çemberin ev sahibi Önder Focan. Davetlileri Oliver Lutz (elektrik bas) ve Emir Palancı (davul). Üç müzisyen, kendi müzikal dillerini koruyarak birlikte yeni bir sesin izini sürüyor.
BlurNotes için canlı kayıt, bir konserin belgesi değil, başlı başına bir müzikal eser.
Bu özel karşılaşma, canlı kayıt albümüne ve sınırlı plak baskısına dönüşürken, belgeselci Batu Akyol’un yönetmenliğinde konser filmi ve kısa belgeselle de kayda geçecek.

Honoring a musical journey of more than half a century need not mean repeating the past. It can also mean making room for new music.
A co-production of Beyoğlu Jazz Festival 2026 and BlurNotes, The Master’s Circle brings together independent musicians from different generations around improvisation and shared creation.
The first circle is hosted by Önder Focan, joined by his guests Oliver Lutz (electric bass) and Emir Palancı (drums). Each keeping their own musical language, the three musicians follow the trail of a new sound together.
For BlurNotes, a live recording is not the document of a concert but a musical work in its own right.
As this special encounter becomes a live album and a limited vinyl edition, it will also be captured in a concert film and a short documentary directed by documentary filmmaker Batu Akyol.

Last week in Antalya, after Talented Mr Igor Butman’s remarkable concert at @akrajazz, the music carried on late into the night at @the251soul.
During the jam session hosted by @antonchekurov, Butman transformed the beloved Russian song Leningrad Nights, later known to many as Moscow Nights, into a beautiful and deeply felt improvisation.
The moment I heard it, my mind went straight to our own Tülay German and her unforgettable interpretation of Mutlu Günler, shaped with the delicate touch of Erdem Buri.
When I first heard Mutlu Günler, I remember thinking that it had one of the saddest melodies and yet some of the most hopeful words I had ever come across. That emotional contrast is exactly what makes the song stay with you.
The original song was written in 1955 by composer Vasily Solovyov-Sedoi and poet Mikhail Matusovsky. At its heart, it carries the everyday melancholy and quiet hope of post-war Soviet culture.
Its power lies in its simplicity. The original Russian lyrics begin with a gentle night scene and gradually move towards a private emotional confession. Silence, water, moonlight, unspoken feelings and the coming of dawn all sit at the centre of the song. The outer landscape and the inner feeling slowly become one.
The song was used in a 1956 sports documentary. Radio broadcasts helped it reach a much wider audience, and during the 1957 World Festival of Youth and Students it gained international attention. In 1958, Van Cliburn’s interpretation helped carry it even further around the world.

A melody that travels across languages, histories and generations — and still finds a way to speak quietly, directly and beautifully.
