The absolute honour of this once in a lifetime experience cannot possibly be described in words. Rekha ji is a true Renaissance woman - someone who has genius embedded in every cell of her being. Astonishing at first, her legacy makes all the sense soon after meeting her. Thank you to all the industry legends who made this shoot one for the flipping books! @tarun_khiwal, @manishmalhotraworld and @behavebandana I am absolutely honoured to have worked alongside all of you on this project. Who said you shouldn’t meet your heroes?!
And ofcourse, the OG @mrarnaut for making the impossible happen on the daily.

I’m absolutely thrilled to be on the jury of PhotoVogue’s first Global Open Call in search of THE NEXT GREAT FASHION IMAGE MAKERS! @photovogue @vogueitalia @voguearabia
In great company with @alessiaglaviano @kullawit @maranif
@sunles
Endorsed by all our Vogues worldwide, the call is multimedia: We are looking for artists who express themselves with photography, video, or both, and everyone can apply—the only requirements are to be 18+ years old and to have talent!
The Open Call will run on Picter from today April 4 until June 25 and submitting will be completely free of charge—click the link in bio to find more details.
Not only will all the Vogues worldwide publish a portfolio of the best submissions (online and/or in print), but some artists will also be selected to collaborate for an editorial (online and/or print) and the most talented ones will be part of the main exhibition at PhotoVogue Festival 2022 in Milan.
The submissions will be evaluated by Vogue staff from all over the world and visual experts from the broader international visual community, coming from as many different backgrounds as possible in order to achieve an inclusive, diverse vision. There are 26 editions of Vogue worldwide, each with their distinct style, so there will be space for every kind of visual aesthetics, from realist to fantastic, from documentary-inspired to glam and dreamy.
We are looking for visions that push the boundaries of the current fashion landscape. We want to highlight the next generation of socially conscious fashion image makers, artists who are a driving force for change and are able to tackle issues of social justice and sustainability in powerful, vibrant images and films.
In the past, PhotoVogue has helped launch the careers of numerous artists internationally. Now that we are globally engaging with all the editions of Vogue worldwide, the possibilities have multiplied. You could be one of the new voices that will shape not only Vogue’s future, but our culture as well!

The perfume world loves a French origin story. But after years of living in the Middle East, that version of history began to smell incomplete to me. Why is Europe still treated as the centre of fragrance when scent has shaped life here for thousands of years, from incense burned in homes and sacred spaces to oud, musk, saffron and rose worn on the skin?
That question became this story for GQ Middle East. It traces the region’s perfume culture from ancient trade routes and communal rituals to the rise of houses such as Amouage, Kayali, Nishane and Batlah, which are translating that heritage into a modern global language. The international maisons featured in the story matter because they reveal the shift now taking place: ingredients, intensity, layering and projection long understood by Gulf noses have become the new codes of luxury fragrance. The world is finally catching up.
A huge thank you to medieval Islamic perfumery historian Dr Anya H. King, and to Mona Kattan, Mert Güzel and Murat Katran, Linda Pilkington, Thibaud Crivelli, Patrice Béliard, Roja Dove, and master perfumers Quentin Bisch, Francis Kurkdjian, Aurélien Guichard and Christelle Laprade, whose knowledge and insight helped me tell this story.
The Middle East no longer merely receives the world’s perfumes; increasingly, it helps decide how they smell, how powerfully they project and how long their stories remain in the air.

To step out of the RwandaAir twin-turboprop plane and onto the rain-soaked tarmac of Kemembe is to sink your teeth deep into the juicy center of nature as “God intended it to be”. Everything is impossibly green, ancient, alive, and untamed.
Days later, in the shadow of the Virunga volcanoes, I find myself knee deep in a bamboo forest, looking at a Silverback Gorilla - and almost forget to breathe. My camera keeps me steady as my fingers shiver in the presence of these magnificent creatures. Over the next few days, Rwanda slowly reveals itself to me, in a way that I have never quite met a place and a people before. A reminder that real luxury is raw and reverent: found in mud-caked boots, eucalyptus-laden air, and moments so sacred, they ask for your silence.
Thank you @oorwanda @oonyungwehouse for having me. @kinigiwomenvillag For a lovely afternoon spent with an amazing group of women weavers, the forest rangers at Volcanoes National Park, both my wonderful guides Oppo and Jerome, and the warm, unmatched hospitality of everyone at @oorwanda. This was a beautiful, verdant dream.

Vatsala was the kind of person who brought a quiet joy to ordinary things. With her, riding a scooty on a wobbly bridge in Indonesia seemed just as adventurous as talking endlessly about life on a couch in Khar. All while hysterically laughing away. Vatsala laughed and made you laugh till you forgot what you were laughing about in the first place. And then laughed some more.
Even when she got sick, our conversations were full of laughs and perhaps a few tears. Life was suddenly more profound - knowing we didn’t have all that time together.
Much like her, her friendship felt like a warm hug, a funny anecdote, a zen koan and a silly dance routine - all rolled into one. From a shy girl, standing with her mum on the first day of Xavier’s when we first met - to a wonderfully quirky, kind and unassumingly wise person I have had the good fortune to call my friend - the last 18 years were a gift that I will hold close, in this life and the next.
Goodbye Butts. Until we clink our beer bottles again.
Ps butts, sorry for the ugly pics. I had to.

This shoot! Peak summer, outdoors, Dubai, with a large format camera and some Portra 160. @ankitaachandra wrote up one of the loveliest stories about hope and determination in the face of adversity for @voguearabia, and called upon @frankdtnt and me to help shoot it. And as it goes with two analog nerds, we decided it was time for my Sinar F2 4x5 to make its once every 5 years appearance. Well it’s been almost 5 years again, so time to plan the next one?
The photographs were a collaboration between @ankitaachandra, @frankdtnt, and me.
Film development and scanning by @analogtheroom. For @voguearabia.

This month, Tunisian model #AmeniEsseibi takes back control and demands a woman’s right to back rolls. “I blame capitalism and businesses for making us think that something like having back rolls is a problem, so that we go and spend money on liposuction to remove them,” Esseibi writes in the #March2024 issue of #VogueArabia. “I am here to tell you not to believe them; you are pretty, they just want your money. One person once wrote to me, ‘I’m still alive because of you,’ and I will never forget that. ‘You made me feel accepted.’ That is my mission; I want to leave this world knowing that I changed the fashion industry, that I changed society, and the way that people think.” Read her full piece now on Vogue.me. #InternationalWomensDay
