Enjoy some highlights from Summer Intensive 2026! Thank you so much to every single dancer who shared in the weekend. You took risks, allowed yourself to show up imperfectly, and created the most amazing energy! It was hard to choose what to share when there were so many beautiful moments (and so many that weren’t captured on film and were just experienced…the soap opera of Friday night improv anyone?)
A special shoutout to the incredible master teachers @samnelsondance @kellysweeney1 @erica_klein for sharing their talents with us! We are so blessed to have you apart of our event ❤️
An extra special thank you to the team @uofmdanceteam for just being the absolute best. The way you show up so intentionally in every space, the leadership, the connection, the ability to anticipate every need. This event is what it is because of all of you. @tiatumbleson @matthew.greco03 and I are so lucky to be your coaches 😍
Everyone give any dancers in your life heading into senior year an extra hug…they’ve been grinding all summer on their recruitment journeys, and man is this process not for the faint of heart! The vulnerability, the mental toughness, the stamina it takes to pursue this is wild, and I’m so proud of how every single one of the seniors in attendance showed up and gave it their all! It has been a privilege being a small part of your dance training over the years, and the future is so bright for all of you…trust the process (and thank the adults in your life helping make it all happen😘)
Thank you dancers for learning and growing and just making our time together so much fun. Dance is amazing.
(Now I’m off to go work on these combos so I can look half as cool as you all do!)

It is rare I get asked to teach anything other than technique or pom these days, so having the chance to bust out a lyrical combo was such a joy! It helped that there was so much wonderful talent to be shared in the room (shout out @udadance Master Camp Orlando!) Thank you to these three for the stunning way they brought the combo to life ❤️ I just love dance so much, and thank God every day this is the life I get to lead

I haven’t been on socials this week, nor has my team. But before the day begins, this is worth breaking the rules.
The legacy that is Minnesota Dance Team is going on year 23…longer than anyone currently on the team has even been alive. 23 years since Minnesota has been out of the top 3 in jazz, 14 out of 15 years of the pom category in top 2, and 23 titles to our name. That is a pressure so few understand. The weight of expectation is heavy, and the standard of excellence continues to rise.
I have no idea where results will land today. That’s not for me to decide or control. What I do know is that my team is going to show up and DELIVER on what it means to be Minnesota. If that ends in a medal, that’s amazing. If it doesn’t, that’s ok too. The journey is the focus. The risk of trying something different, of being vulnerable, of pushing ourselves to technical levels above what we thought we could, to perform, to tell a story, to be athletes, to DANCE….that is what we control.
As a coach, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on my choices this season, the decisions I’ve made that have (or have not) prepared us for this weekend. And at the end of the day, I stand behind it all. And I choose this team every day of the week. And I KNOW they will be amazing on that stage today, giving every ounce of what they have left in the tank to put on a show and compete. And that is all that matters.
I’m excited to take it all in with them today. And to continue to legacy, however it unfolds ❤️
