a year that i never expected to change my life the way it did is finished now.
first of all im so glad i decided to change literally everything in my life and to move back to finland and go study media stuff in a folk high school, more specifically in laajasalon opisto.
thinking back at it, this school and the people i got to know and do stuff with during the past year, had probably the biggest impact on my mental health situation. in the most positive way possible:
it gave me needed redirection of focus and routine.
it gave me a whole new, - but somehow familiar and in anycase - FRESH, needed environment of people
(that i admittedly thought in the beginning i wouldn't be clicking with because i was too different or something..ugh stfu).
because of these people:
the whole year, there wasn't a day that i felt anxiety at school, there wasn't a day that i didn't laugh.
everyday i was happy to go there because i knew i got to put aside my ruminations for a moment and give a chance to a new way of seeing life and myself, basically by doing things that i like and joking around with people.
because in the end, through the things and skills practiced and learned at school, and with the help of the support and positive feedback from the teachers and my peers, i was able to develop a budding confidence in myself and my capabilities, future and basically life that i didn't think possible before.
i literally have a hard time recognising myself as the same person that I was a year ago. the hard work that i've been putting into myself feels like it's paying off, because while i don't recognise myself, i feel more myself than i've ever felt before. the relief and hope and excitement that it gives me... changes lives.
not all of you people that have given me so much joy at school are not in these pics, but i appreciate your existence in my heart all the same. y'all, in pics or not, have probably had no idea during the school time how you have been changing my life for the better by just being, so yeah. don't ever think you don't matter!!

Accepting Myself In Pain / Itseni hyväksymistä kivussa (2024)
A project 4 years in the making (mostly in my head), that I finally was in a place - with myself and otherwise - to create. This also ended up becoming a documentary project for school which helped me push myself to actualize this. It was just the perfect opportunity with all the equipment and the help that I could get from the school.
So! The biggest shoutout goes to @samulipellinen for being willing and interested to make this happen and being a level-headed, space-giving working partner with this heavy stuff. He's a professional in the making so hire him yall! 👏🏻

Along with this video project being a way for me to process my own things, I hope for it to also encourage others to reach out, ask and accept help during the darker periods of life.

Kind of ironic how 4ish years ago I made another video project where I declared having found love for myself, only to then crash and burn worse than ever. Just 3 months after making it. Fully losing myself to those insecurities that I already had but had managed to hide for a moment. They overpowered me for four years after that.
Now I'm in the process of changing my relationship with pain...(continued in comments)
