Day 11, was the formal end of the @alcan5000rally but physically and emotionally I’d say that was day 10. Day 11 we hit the hot springs and did the awards. But we’re weren’t done. We had to come home from Fairbanks, Alaska. So the next morning we left early in the dark and constant rain and didn’t stop except for fuel, restroom breaks, an issue from a large pothole on the Cassiar, and short meals making it 2980 miles to Santa Rosa California in 56 hours. I’m tired. Brad still has to make it to Reno but as he says “it’ll be fine.” 14 Sep 2026

Days 9 and 10 are done(late posting)! We left Inuvik early ish and made likely the first or second ferry heading back. Unlike the near perfect weather coming up the way down was rain for maybe 70% of the way. The Dempster is much worse in the rain. Thanks to ridiculous range of the diesel cayenne we made it to Dawson without stopping for fuel. In town we tried to clean the wheels but just made the truck unbalanced. Spent the night at the JJJ l, ate well, and I crashed out early. Next morning was spent taking the wheels off and power washing everything. The dirt turned cement in the wheels was blasting the calipers in traditional rally car fashion, so glad we did. Then it was off on the next ferry to the Top of the World Highway and the Alaska border crossing. Chicken was a great stop for fresh baked goods and once the highway became paved the frost heaves made you wish it was still gravel. After a while it was back to civilization and Fairbanks where we spent the night. Only one day left! @pluginhybrad @alcan5000rally 11 Sep 2026

Days 7 and 8 are done. These days were the reason for going. We left Whitehorse early and headed out to Inuvik via the Dempster Highway. If you ever take a long round trip, this is it. I cannot capture what it’s like to drive this section of the earth. It’s long and it has a reputation but for us the weather was nearly perfect and colors amazing. We got into Inuvik 820 miles later with the sun still up at nearly 11 pm. The next day we woke up when we felt like it and made the last trek to Tuktoyatuk and the arctic ocean. We did what any reasonable person would do and jump it (briefly.) now back to the hotel to recoup and plan for Dawson City tomorrow. @alcan5000rally @pluginhybrad 09 Sep 2026
