Hosted by NMDC Group, the ADIPEC Strategic Leadership Roundtable titled āThe new normal: resilience as a competitive advantageā, focused on how energy companies and their partners can turn the lessons of recent disruption into lasting resilience across operations, supply chains and the wider energy value chain.
Moderated by Knowledge Partner Deloitte, the session explored a broad range of perspectives, including:
⢠Resilience is a strategic choice built over years, not overnight. Diversification, localisation, owning critical capacity and skills, and the ability to adapt and make decisions quickly are what allow organisations to keep delivering when plans fail.
⢠Technology accelerates recovery, but people remain the foundation. AI, robotics and remote operations have helped restore assets faster and keep operations running, while investment in local talent and teams that can work without technology proved just as critical.
⢠Resilience must be collective. No single company or country can achieve it alone, so closer collaboration across the value chain, regional supply chain capacity, stable policy frameworks and recognition of the true cost of resilience are essential.

Hosted by the UAEās Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the ADIPEC 2026 Ministerial Leadership Roundtable titled āSecuring energy supply for industrial competitivenessā focused on the lessons from recent supply disruption and how producers and consumers can build resilience into energy supply chains while keeping energy affordable enough for industry to compete.
The discussion, moderated by S&P Global, reflected on several key areas, including:
⢠Having resources is not enough; supply depends on getting them to market securely. Alternative export routes, protection of critical infrastructure, dedicated shipping fleets and storage closer to customers are now essential layers of resilience.
⢠Redundancy has value, not just cost. The cost of building resilience is small compared with the cost of disruption, which ultimately falls on consumers, so it needs to be factored into investment decisions from the outset.
⢠Cooperation and investment are key to security and competitiveness. Cross-border infrastructure, regional interconnections and long-term partnerships can unlock untapped resources, particularly in Africa, where energy is seen as the engine of industrialisation. Policy and tax barriers that weigh on industrial competitiveness also need to be addressed.

Hosted by UCC Holding and moderated by Boston Consulting Group, the ADIPEC Strategic Leadership Roundtable titled āDelivering the energy the world needs: recalibrating upstream projectsā examined how the upstream industry can finance, develop and deliver projects faster and more competitively at a time when energy security and long-term hydrocarbon demand are back at the top of the agenda.
During the session, participants shared common consensus among these key issues:
⢠Project delivery models must change to match the scale of what is needed. Standardisation, strong front-end definition, early engagement with contractors and suppliers, and clearer, fairer risk allocation can make projects faster, more predictable and more competitive.
⢠Collaboration and trust are as important as technology. Closer integration between governments, regulators, operators, contractors and service companies, built on transparency and long-term partnership rather than procurement-led relationships, is key to moving projects forward.
⢠Existing assets and people are critical to securing supply. Reviving mature and idle wells offers fast, cost-effective production gains, while closing skills gaps, raising safety standards and using AI to support supervision and operations remain essential.
