The biggest challenge today is that many people—men and women—hear the word “submit” through the lens of power, control, and inequality.
That’s understandable.
But Ephesians 5 doesn’t stop at:
“Wives, submit to your husbands.”
It also says:
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
At the time, that was the radical part. Wives were already expected to submit. What was shocking was the call for husbands to sacrificially lay down their lives for their wives.
The wife’s posture is described as submission.
The husband’s posture is described as sacrificial love.
Neither is self-serving.
Do you see what Paul was getting at?

“Lord, I’m cooked.”
As Christians, we carry new life in “earthen vessels,” so the battle is real. We can stumble. We can fall.
What remains constant isn’t our strength, but our need for grace.
His power is made perfect in weakness.

The goal isn’t emotional repression, it’s emotional stewardship.

When emotions are high, anger has a way of convincing us that we need to say one more thing, prove one more point, or get the last word.
A pause creates space. Prayer invites God into that space. It’s hard to stay angry when both people are seeking God more than they’re trying to win.

We often tell men to be strong enough to stand on their own. The Prodigal Son tells a different story.
The turning point comes when the son stops performing and starts returning.
The journey home required him to face his failure, surrender his pride, accept the consequences — and then ask for mercy anyway.
That is courage.
And his redemption doesn’t begin when he proves himself.
The Father doesn’t say: “Earn your place back.”
He runs to him, embraces him, and restores him —
“You’re my son.”

One thing that’s fascinating is that the biggest hero stories aren’t actually about lone heroes.
The stories we love are often assumed to celebrate independence. Yet the ones that endure tend to celebrate loyalty, brotherhood, sacrifice — mutual dependence.
Sam carries Frodo.
Bucky carries Steve.
Rocky and Grace save each other.
Those are not stories of radical self-sufficiency.
They're stories of relationship.
The Christian story isn’t a solo mission either: a family of God, the body of Christ, a fellowship, bearing one another's burdens — which is why we think so many people resonate with these stories, even if they can't explain why.

Strength isn’t just what you build. It’s what you’re able to hold when life gets heavy.
Responsibility, when it’s inconvenient.
Truth, when it costs you.
Others, without losing yourself.

This isn’t something most of us were taught well. But it’s the part that matters most.

Episode Three is out now.
Before the success. Before the validation. Before anyone was watching, Chloe and Yuki chose — not blindly, not out of fear, but with conviction.
They chose through imperfection. They chose growth. They chose to keep becoming.
