A magical morning with Tuesday ☀️ at Wedja Bali in Ubud on my birthday. I highly recommend going for a drink and a stroll through its natural paradise. Photo Editing Tips ↓ • The Shoot 📸 Try and get everything as good as possible in the actual shoot. Think about composition and exposure. What aperture you need, how much bokeh you want etc. Always shoot in RAW so you have more in-depth editing options. • Lighting 💡 A well exposed photo with good lighting captures more detail and gives you more flexibility while editing. This will allow you to push the edit further with less risk of gathering artifacts etc in post production. • Colour 🌈 Colour grading in post-production. There are several ways to adjust the original colour tones using white balance, tone curves, or colour grading. This will dramatically change your image. I don't use presets, I like to look at the image and work out the emotion I felt when I took the image and how best I want to replicate that and colour grade accordingly. • My masking process: In this image I wanted to increase the clarity and definition of the striking nature. I wanted it to have depth and feel really hyper real. I used dehaze to bring back faded details and to make the photo pop. I kept the blacks strong to add to the mood given by the grey skies. Damsel-fly on the wall Saw this Damselfly on the ceiling and tried to capture it... It wasn't the best model as it kept moving and was very small, but I captured it... eventually... Blue Sprite damselflies are tiny 38 mm rockets — bright blue males, cooler grey-green females. You’ll find them chilling by ponds and slow streams, perching on twigs like they own the place. They’re territorial, they fight, they flex, then mate in a classic “heart” wheel shape. Females lay eggs inside underwater plants while the male guards like a bouncer. Documenting layers of history at the Hastings May Day parade! 🍃 Swipe through with me to explore one of the UK's most unique traditions. ➡️ Growing up in Hastings, May Day has been a day of significance to me for many years, and I decided it was a good idea to document and share one of the UK’s more rarer traditions. Occurring on the first Monday of May this isn't just a parade; it's a powerful revival of ancient rites to celebrate the return of spring. At its heart is the enigmatic ‘Jack in the Green’ - a figure completely shrouded in a canopy of foliage, symbolising the spirit of the forest. It originated in the early 18th century from the guilds of London chimney sweeps, who would wreathe themselves in greenery and dance for money on May Day. The Hastings celebration, brilliantly revived in 1983, now blends this custom with older pagan traditions of Beltane, Morris dancing, and incredible community spirit. Capturing the energy, the characters, and the story behind it all was a lot of fun and I have a lot more images to share if you like them! @ellisanthony needed a quick spontaneous portfolio update but we only had thirty minutes. So the crocs came on and out we went for thirty minutes.
